With his personal ’silly season’ behind him (switching from DEI to Hendrick in 2008) Dale Earnhardt, Jr is ready for Sonoma to prove to the people who say he can’t drive a road course that they are wrong.
“This weekend is important to me because I’m sick of hearing people say ‘oh, he can’t drive on a road course.’ We’ve been so close here before and have always come away with some sort of issue that takes away from what we can really do. I want a top-10 so bad here, I can taste it.”
“We finished 11th two years in a row and led some laps. It broke my heart that I didn’t get to race the Corvette there in 2004 because of the crash during the morning warm-up. I was angry because it cost that team a chance to race after they had been so good to me, but also because I was really learning a lot and had improved my road racing skills.”
- Johnny Rutherford Named Grand Marshal for Sonoma
- P.J. Jones in for Reutimann at Sonoma
- Sarah Fisher’s Chances Not Good at Returning to IRL This Season
- Riggs Injured in Boating Accident
- Kenseth more confident going into Sonoma

Weeeell this’ll get his haters going. Have at it, we’ve heard it all
before.
You can call them haters or you can call them realist, the fact is you need consistant results on road courses to be considered a good road racer.
I like this part….”some sort of issue that takes away from what we can really do.” You don’t know the issue?
How about just having a good finish?
The ghost of the Corvette racer awaits!!!!!!
Jeff Gordon is going to win this weekend. But I’m sure Jr. will have an alright finish.
Ill be there all weekend go jr ! make the fans who still belive in your proud kick asss!
Well, at least he is not parading around stating he great at everything.
Haters, realists, and fans~ When it comes down to it we all know that all the drivers have there
downfalls in certain areas. (be it their pit crew, a road race, super speed way, ect.)
Funny thing is it can vary year to year too. That’s why every year we have a new champion.
Kind of fun seeing everyone’s post though.
I think that’s his goal now, to get consistant on the road races. Issues=things out of his controll
Things out of his hands, i.e a fire.
Ghost of the Corvette racer comment was a wee bit mean, remember he said it was almost like
his dad was there but don’t think I’m weird, I thought that was pretty cool.
Agree- How about just having a good finish Jr, you awesome driver you.
It is amazing to me how someone who is afraid to sign his or her name can be so judmental.
wow lookie lookie….jeff gordon and jimmie johnson cant even
qualify because there cars were illegal again…i sure hope
they cut this out when junior comes over o well its only 2
races a year road courses dont hurt u in the standings

“Jeff Gordon is going to win this weekend. But I’m sure Jr. will have an alright finish. “
Um… I don’t think even jeff can win from the back!
“I heard my Daddy’s voice say..’get out of the car, son’. I said ‘Why Daddy?’ and he told me ’cause the Cars on fire boy!’”
the guy above me is a meat knot! hey nascarfan4life24 wonder boy is NOT GOING TO WIN!! no one has won it from the back of the pack, we all know that jr will do fine!
Gordon and Johnson have a long way to get to the front. Jr’s already close
I would like to see him win and maybe some of the so call jr haters might eat there words. I am not a real JR fan but after hearing all the mess you guys are carrying on man I would like to see him up front. and watch the checkered flag fall.
atleast he didn’t stand there for this interview and whine and
blame other drivers for not winning or for crashing the vette!!
we each grow and change and get better with more experience.
somethings we need more chances to have experiences with
and other things just come to us better.
wherever dale finishes tomorrow you can rest assure that
he’s gonna do his best and regardless of what happens,
won’t be running off with the mouth half cocked whining…
like jeff and tony!
