Dale Earnhardt Jr. Wins Sixth Consecutive Most Popular Driver Award
Quote selected text Published December 6th, 2008 in NASCAR NewsNASCAR fans across the nation have once again made a statement about their favorite driver. After tallying over one million votes, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the recipient of the 2008 NASCAR NMPA Chex Most Popular Driver Award.
Throughout the race season, fans voted daily for over 40 of their favorite drivers online at http://www.chexmostpopulardriver.com/. Earnhardt Jr. was presented with the award today at the National Motorsports Press Association’s Myers Brothers Media Luncheon in New York City. The award is Earnhardt Jr.’s sixth consecutive win since 2003. Only Bill Elliott (1991-2000) has more consecutive wins.
The NASCAR NMPA Chex Most Popular Driver Award has been given annually since 1956 and today is the only award for NASCAR’s top drivers given by the fans. The six wins by Earnhardt Jr. moved him past Bobby Allison and now only behind Richard Petty (9) and Bill Elliott (16) for most total awards.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to win this award now for the sixth time, and I can tell you it never gets old.” said Earnhardt Jr. “I’ve said it many times before that this award is special because it’s the voice of the fans.
“I think back to over a year ago when I made the decision to go to Hendrick Motorsports, and my biggest concern was whether the fans would support my decision.” continued Earnhardt Jr. “They did, and I will always be grateful for that. I appreciate everyone who voted, and I want to thank Chex and the National Motorsports Press Association for all they do for the sport.”
“The fans have spoken, and it’s obvious that Dale Earnhardt Jr. truly is amongst the elite of fans’ support,” said Tom Jensen, President of the National Motorsports Press Association. “He deserves this award, and we’re thankful for all the fans who continue to vote and make this award a rich part of our sports history.”

Well atleast there is one category he can score a win in every year…………. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL I got a category How bout most OVER88TED driver
Hank,
You said it brother,
HE’S NOT OVER-RATED, HE TRULY EARNEDHARDT IT, JUNEBUGS THE MAN…
GO 88 IN 2009 !!!
He is extremely OVER88TED, he was suppose to come out and dominate this year did he no. Cause he sucks, all his fans say wait until hes in the best equipment, well guess what he is and he still sucks… He squeaked out a FUEL MILEAGE some will call it luck either way its a win, other then that it was another year of listening to jr and eury jr complain to each other. 3 drivers did good this year ROWDY who dominated up until the chase, carl who did good all year and jimmy who DOMINATED the chase. Thank god we didnt have to see JR on tv at the award ceremony.
COMMENT ABOVE WAS MINE FOR SOME REASON DIDNT POST MY NAME

Has nothing to do with junebug, it has everything to do with that sucky Tony Eury and the pit crew, junebug can only do so much, if he gets a new crew chief and replace some crew members, he’d be okay…
JG
Keep in mind back at the good ole days of DEI when JR was complaining saying he needed a new crew chief then he got MIKEYS crew chief and he sucked worse, now im not saying he wouldnt benefit from a new crew chief. Even with a new crew chief he sint gong to be the dominant driver his fans want him to be. he is a mediocre driver at best. lets face jr has been in the series for years and hes won a few races other then that NADDA except being the most popular and thats only because of his name not because of his ability change his name and he would be no differnt then kenseth who has been in the series the same amount of time and done more
2008 video of the year…
http://racingwin.com/dale-earnhardt-jr-video-of-the-year/
LOL LOL LOL
That has to be one of the lamest things I have ever seen. The music sounds like it straight off lifetime. I hope Jr does do Im tired of hearing his fans make excuses for how good he is. My point if he is so good then prove. I mean damn NASCAR opened the chase up to 12 cars the first year he didnt make it and look where he finished this year, he still didnt get an invite to the big night but he finishe in top 12
KYLE BUSCH, I MEAN DOOSH DOUCHE ISN’T ANY BETTER, IF HE LOSES, HE CRIES ABOUT WHO RAN HIM OFF THE TRACK, BUT IF HE RUNS SOMEONE OFF THE TRACK, IT’S OKAY TO HIM !!!
KYLE WAS OVER18ED THIS YEAR !!!
HMMMMM
I agree with you on Kyle being aggresive, but so was dale sr. does kyle cry like a baby yeah ill give you that to. Over18ted HMMMMMMMMMMM maybe I dont see it but im a Kyle fan. JUST this year Kyle far out performed JR. Kyle who is less expereinced and such a OVER18TED driver, was on a new team this year as was jr, and Kyle did way better. Now i know how jr fans like to say jr has more wins, well i should hope so he has been in there series longer, but just think Kyle in one season has won half as many races in 1 season, as jr has in his career.
MAYBE KYLE WAS OVER18TED THIS YEAR, BUT JR HAS BEEN OVER RATED HIS ENTIRE CAREER IN THE CUP SERIES.

That’s cause Kyle’s car was rigged with magnets, Nascar just didn’t catch them on the cup side !!!
Did you notice Kyle wasn’t winning anymore after the incident of the other series getting busted, I did !!!
WOO HOO THATS MY JUNE BUG YOU GO WE ALL LOVE YOU DALE JR. AND WE ARE 1 NATION AND THATS JR NATION. YOU MAKE YOUR FANS PROUD AND WE ALL LOVE YOU. HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS JUNE BUG HUGS AND KISSES.
JG
COME ON,,,,, OK Nationwide serious IN JGR cars only you car argue that. How about the truck and nationwide series when he drives for other teams and he wins. As for the magnets being on the cup cars, your assumption is purely speculation. Nascar had 8 chances to inspect KB’s car. and 2 more with smoke and hamlin, thats 10 chances they could had to see if the JGR cars were cheating. Also it was the Nationwide series where TOYOTA was asked to DUMMY DOWN there motors so the other teams could catch up because TOYOTA was able to produce more power. So to say JGR was cheating on the cup side is a irresponsible statement.

I’m not thinking so…
More factual than any other statement…
LOL LOL LOL LOL
Well all you have is unsubstantiated rumors. Personally I rather go with the facts. Rowdy won over 20 races this season between the 3 different series. Also if you recall correctly Rowdy wasnt even driving a JGR car in the nationwide series when the infraction took place Smoke and Logano were. Also nobody knows if or how long those magnets were there before this. I would suspect they were ever since Nascar made them DUMMY DOWN there horsepower. Or they may have been there for that one race that Rowdy wasnt even a JGR car. Also there is no proof or reason to beleive they were in a cup car, like I said what your saying is no different then all the JR haters saying how Nascar throws a caution for him every chance they get to help him out.

Nope, Nascar has to follow the rules they set out, thay have to be fair with one driver as with the other 42.

No he was not supposed to come out and dominate this year. You are an idiot.
go JR….I bet tei wishes they still had his money coming in.
This is not about baby bush so leave the punk out of it.
Hank wrote:
This is about popularity and has nothing to do with your ratings. Last time i checked he finished above 31 other drivers.

Your last comment about JG, you might want to retract, JG is sticking up for JR not bashing him. As for him not dominating this year, I personally didnt think he was going to win any races although he did get 1. Secondly what I mean about suppose to be dominant this recent season, was the majority of his fans all I would here is “just wait hes with a good team hes going to dominate” well Im still waiting. I like Jr, I am constantly amazed at the way he handles his popularity, and I love his attitude. With that said he can drive everyone in the series can, but Jr is nowhere near his dad, or will he ever be. Im tired of hearing how good he is when he hasnt proved it yet. Also if you scroll through the comments JG brought BABY BUSCH into it.
JG
Lets face it nascar doesnt have to do anything. As for them being fair why did they approve Toyota to run the motor in the nationwide series, then ask them to lower the horsepower. Toyota was penalized for what nascar approved. Also Im a huge smoke fan, but I can say that he did not win DEGA, Smith won that race what was so fair about that. Also Nascar suspends one driver for life for abusing the drug policy then they allow Hornaday to continue to race. I agree what Hornaday did was nowhere nearly as bad as what other drivers have done, but at the same time they have to be fair. How about the multiple times one drivers is penalized for one thing then another driver gets a completely different penalty for the same infraction. Nascar can and do what they want.

If i bashed someone incorrectly, then I am sorry. Most of jrs fans do not think he is as good as his dad and have never said so. It is the people who dislike him that compare him to his dad. Just for the record, as much as I like JR, he will have a very difficult time winning the number of races or championships that his dad won. I hope he wins one but he does not have to for me to like him. If he does then his haters will say he needs another to prove himself. Nothing will be good enough.

OK, Rowdy….how is this taking up for JR? I stand by my statement.
SAM
Like I said, Im tired of hearing his fans say hes going to dominate. I agree you are 1 fan that has not said it. On the other hand every race I go to or every fan I run into, the majority of them say Just wait hes with a dominating team and hes going to dominate. I hear that all the time. Im not saying you said but thats what I hear all the time. I think the issue is that the alot of Jr’s fans are people who recently have joined nascar, and they arent sure who to like so they pick jr cause he is probably the most recognizable names. Then they run there mouths about stuff they dont know about. I also agree with you, that if he ever does win a championship, which personally i dont think he will, but if he does he will get that reaction. On the other hand SOME of his fans will make it out like hes the greatest ever.
Check this out, tell me this guy does not have some of the best car control you have ever seen.

No, Junebug will never, never be as good as Senior, Senior wasn’t afraid to drive, his motto was, get the hell out the way or get ran over, nobody will never be as good as the “MAN IN BLACK”!!!
As for SAM, I am a diehard Earnhardt fan, no way I would bash the Earnhardt’s, I was lucky enough back in 2000 to shake the man’s hand, that I will take to the grave, I’ll never forget that, it was by accident I ran into Sr too, that’s what was weird about it, I kept on hearing someone say you got the right shirt on, I turned around and there he was, I almost fainted…
I think Jr will be ready 2009, 2008 was just practice for him…
I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT…
I got 2 questions for you.
First, I have alot of different people suggest this over the past season. and that is that Jr needs to quit point racing, and just go and run the car. Basically stop being so conservative, so what do you think about that???
Secondly I personally couldnt stand SR. but I can respect what he accomplished. Sr is by far one of the best, if not the best driver this series has seen up to this point. So why was it ok and accepted for Sr. to be a move or get run over attitude, where you have guys now like SMOKE in the past who wasnt widely accepted at first but has come to be a fan favortie. ALso Kyle who has an abrasive attitude and you or JG said Kyle will run someone over and then complain if it happened to him, whast the difference cause Sr was like that when he was young.
Just curious on your outlook on that??????????
OK AS BEFORE SOMEONE WANTS TO COPY MY NAME AND PUT POST UP SO IM UNDER MY REGISTERED NAME.
Outlook you say Rowdy?
Well the outlook now is, there are new rules, ya cannot drive like a senior anymore, you can and you can’t, it all depends how you use Sr’s skills now day’s.
Some of his skills are legal and some are not in today’s Nascar.
WTF, are you talking to yourself now on here Rowdy?
LOL LOL LOL LOL
Well Im glad to see who ever copied my name to post a comment I didnt say, forgot to change there name back…..

Its ok thats why I love JR fans,
JG
I wasnt trying to compare him to anyone, I was just saying the dude has amazing car control. Im also confident in saying if you put ken block in a cup car he couldnt compete, but you have to give the guy his props he can drive his butt off

Have you ever seen THE RACE OF CHAMPIONS
Can’t say I have.
Its pretty sweet, this year Carl Edwards is doing it with Travis Pastrana for the US team. Thye have teams from all over the country Schumacher usually wins it with his team, but they compete in several different competitions with several different types of cars. Its pretty awesome to see these guys out of there element wheeling cars they arent use to.
http://www.raceofchampions.com/
I heard something about that.
I had to login Rowdy B-4 someone pulls the BS they did to you, thanks for the idea of logging in.
JIMMY JOHNSON has done it in the past, but hasnt really faired to well Im curious to see how Edwards does. If my memory is right Casey Mears did it one year and he was the only person to beat Micheal Shumacher who is supposedly one of the worlds best drivers……..
damn JG i was going to copy your name and post BOGUS comments, gees know I cant lol lol lol kidding but yeah its a good idea to do that

Letter from Grandad
Guess you heard that 68% of “the youth vote” went to Obama. My granddaughter called this morning to tell me she was one of them. I replied with this e-mail:
Sweetheart,
The election of Obama comes down to this. Your grandmother and I, your mother and other productive wage earning tax payers will have their taxes increased and that means less income. Less income means we will have to cut back on basic purchases, gifts and handouts. That includes firing the Hispanic lady who cleans our house twice a month. She just lost her job. We can’t afford her anymore.
What is the economic effect of Obama’s election on you personally? Over the years, your grandmother and I have given you thousands of dollars in food, housing, cash, clothing, gifts, etc., etc. By your vote, you have chosen another family over ours for help. So in the future, if you need assistance with your rent, money for gas, tires for you car, someone to bring you lunch, etc. .. call 202-456-1111. That’s the telephone number for the Office of the President of the United States. I’m sure Mr. Obama will be happy to send a check from his personal or business accounts or leave cash in an envelope taped to his front door.
It’s like this. Those who vote for the president should consider what the impact of an election will be on the nation as a whole and not just be concerned with what they can get for themselves (welfare, etc.). What Obama voters don’t seem to realize is that the government’s money comes from taxes collected from tax paying families. Raising taxes on productive people means they will have less money to spend on their families.
Congratulations on your choice. For future reference, you might attempt to add up all you’ve received from us, your mom, Mike’s parents and others and compare it to what you expect to get over the next four years from Mr. Obama.
To congratulate Mr. Obama and to make sure you’re on the list for handouts, write to:
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington DC 20500
Love you but call the number listed above when you need help. Granddad
LOL LOL
well god know thats all we need to do is to get into a politcal topic going in here.
