Theresa, Yeah it would have been real hard to watch something like that in your rear view mirror...but if he hadn't made himself get back into that car when he did...he may never have gotten back into that car! His passion for racing is too great to squelch in his heart and soul. His dad's was too, which is why he knew...for his dad...he had to get back into that car. I have so much respect for Dale Jr. One of the reasons I like him so much is that I have a son who is 22 and is so much like Dale Jr it is amazing. He has been racing since he was 15 and has just as much passion for it as Dale Jr. They seem to be alot alike. I see my son doing some of the same things that Jr has done in the past. He is a very good driver with very little money so I don't expect (even though I hope and pray) that he someday will get a real good break and fulfill his dreams. He makes his mother very proud...which makes me KNOW that Dale Jr makes his mother and his daddy sitting up there in heaven just as proud as I am of my son.

Cybil, I have to agree with you that Jr.'s attitude is what drew a lot of people to him. The first think that I admired about him is the way he handled himself after his father's death. Can anyone here imagine what it was like to come in second at the Daytona 500 and look in your mirror and see your father's vehicle wrecked. Then, to know that he died trying to help you and your team mate get 1 and 2. I'm sure alot of people would have lingered in depression over their loss. I could not, and cannot still, believe how strong he was not just to race again, but, to get in acar the very next week. He is a true man that takes responsibility for his actions and doesn't blame others for mistakes he has made. Granted he leans on Kelley alot to help him with business decisions, but, that just comes from the closeness they've always had and it's nice to see that they are still so close and trust each other so much. Not many adults are that close to their siblings.

Way to go Becca #1 and Becca #2, Theresa and all Dale Jr's real fansfor standing up with me and agreeing he is his own person. I don't care what any of the so called Bandwagon jumping fans say...Jr made the right decision and he already shows the happiness in it. He has been in his daddy's shadow waiting for years to come out and show how awesome he can be. His dad taught him to do it without any help and he was good enough to get this contract without any help from anyone...except maybe his loving and talented sister. He is going to show them all...He isn't in his daddy's shadow any more! He is Dale Earnhardt Jr...and that's that! They were 2 totally different individuals with totally different likes and dislikes...yet they were a family. I guarantee that Dale Sr is upstairs applauding his son at this very moment. Just like his true fans are. Again I have to say...Rock on Jr...Rock on!

HMS was the smartest place for Jr to go. They have the best equipment and they have the COT all figured out. I am a big Dale Jr fan...he took over a few years ago when I used to be a total Jeff Gordon fan. His whole attitude is what drew me to him. He is awesome as a person and that can make for a fan favorite. His fantastic driving abilities are yet to come. He is good, but will get so much better without all the crap teresa gives him. Yeah he may have to wear more black slacks and white shirts but hey...that could earn him a few fans in itself! LOL! Dale Jr is my #1 driver with Jeff Gordon #2 and Jimmie #3...so Jr went to the best place in my opinion. I can't wait for 2008 season to begin and Jr to show all of his sceptics how awesome he is!

Cybil and both Beccas, I couldn't agree with you more. Junior has come a long way, but, since there seems to be ahuge problem with seperating business issues from family issues, I think he really had not choice tthan to do what he has done. He's always gonna me The Intimidators Son, but, by going somewhere other than DEI, he can now show people what he can do without it being because of his Daddy. Hendrick didn't sign Junior because of Sr. Juniors popularity adn the money that that will bring into his company is why. No one, not Gordon fans, Juniors fans, Seniors fans or any other NASCAR fan can say what is going to happen next year or any time after that. I'm just looking forward to see where this decision takes him, and I thank God that Kelley talked him out of signing a lifetime contract with DEI five years ago and only signed a 5 year one. For any of you that are interested and haven't seen it yet, theres a video on Jrs web site and on infieldparking of him talking to his fans about his decision and he is the most happy andrelaxed taht I've seen him in a long time.

Cybil I have to agree with both you and Becca. DALE JR is DALE JR, not DALE SR. He is a classy person on and off the track and every parent wishes to have a kid like that... not just a son. Being classy will get you much farther in life than being mean and trying to cry your way through things. Life isnt always easy and its not always fair either. Jr had his shares of downs but he has kept his head held high and thanked his crew each week for trying their hardest to get the car right and sticking with him.

Breanna- Sorry, I read something just briefly on Yahoo Sports news and didn't get to read the whole thing. I do not know much about Dale Sr. as I have only watched the sport since 2002. Here is what I read:"The two have known each other since Junior was a little boy, and his Daddy gave Hendrick his first NASCAR win in a 1983 Busch Series race."

And, again, I am backing Jr. 100% because he made what he thought was the right move for him. Just like I backed Joe Montana when most thought he betrayed the 49's by moving to the Chiefs. He was my favorite quarter back and Michael Johnson when he came back to play for the Wizards. Just because he is on another team doesn't mean that he is a sellout. He needs the cars to race, wasn't really getting that at DEI, so he went where he could get them. Live with it people.

Becca~You are absolutely right "LET DALE JR BE DALE JR." Dale jr is not Dale Sr. They were 2 different people...Jr is a kind thoughtful man who cares about "all" of his relationships...his family, co workers, sponsors, friends and fans. His Dad although he was an awesome driver and good guy...he had his moments when he couldn't even show a caring or loving emotion to his own son, let alone anyone else. Dale jr. is the kind of man every parent wants their sons to turn out to be.
Driver wise...Dale Sr does out do Jr. but that doesn't mean he will forever...He will rock and I am ready to watch it all happen. I am so excited! ROCK ON JR!

The Junior "fans" that are dissing him now are not and were not ever really HIS fans. If you were/are his fan, you'd understand that he wants to do what is necessary to be successful in this business. He obviously cares about winning and he wanted to go where the best equipment was and like it or not, right now the best equipment is with HMS.

Yes, thank God. This really trims the fat on the "so-called" fans of Junior who Just picked him because somebody told them to hate Gordon or because they think they know what Senior was all about (or whatever superficial reason there may be). Bout friggin' time. Hendrick is no more a cheater than most other teams through out NASCAR's history (or racing period). If some of you fly by nights knew about the history of racing you would see that. If you do know the history and still don't like Hendrick then I can respect that because I don't particularly care for that money laundering conspirator myself. The business world ain't pretty and Hendrick was just doing his thing, though. Its ridiculous to hate Junior now just because he wants to do what is best for his career. Being competitive is the name of the game, not making people happy or living up to fantasy expectations.

I hope all you guys who are ditching Junior now will be booing him next race. It will make it so much more satisfying to be a Junior fan.

I think I'm going to be physically ill. But you know what? I'm still part of Jr. Nation, and it doesn't matter where he races. He's still my baby.

I'm not hopping on the Hendrick Bandwagon anytime soon however.

Two words: Good riddance. Way to hop on the bandwagon. And, with that
statement, way to prove your stupidity. I can't stand Hendrick, Johnson,
OR Gordon and I'm still glad he went there. Atleast now the fake fans
will f__k off and the lines at his merch hauler won't be so long
when I'm waiting in them.

So NASCARFAN4LIFE...Gordon did badly two years ago because Robby Loomis was leaving...so you're teling everyone that he's too overly emotional to focus on his job. Funny, others don't seem to have that problem. Vickers knew he was leaving last year and was having problem with the way he was being treated by people at HMS and he still drove his heart out. I seem to recall him winning at Talladega last year...and Johnson (Gordon the whiner junior) pouting about it and saying you don't wreck a teammate blah blah blah... Junior was the one thatdidn't let his emotions control himand he simply said that "this is racing". Funny how immature some of these grown men can be. And I'm not saying that it only happens at HMS. Stewarts rant on his satellite radio show and Carl Edwards side swiping Junior and going to Victory Lane to argue with him after last years Busch race in Michigan were just pathetic. Nothing compares to Kurt Busch and the childish crap he pulled in pitlane at Dover. I'm just grateful that the crew member saw him coming early enough to get out of the way.

I suggest a small ceromony for those of us who are planning on burning all off our Jr stuff. Sunday at the drop of the green flag I will soak all of my Jr stuff in 110 octane Torco and toss a match to it. I think that I am not alone when I say that Jr will never be my driver again. Today I would like to announce that my long time number two driver will be steepping up to number one, a great driver with two championships, one who is not afraid to say what he thinks(echoing another former driver) TONY STEWART!!!

GO TONY!!! Jr i hope you don't finish a race in the top30 the rest of your career!

Guy,
I fully agree with you on that. He did what was best for him and his career. Just like you I dont have to like the other Drivers under that roof. As long as long as Jr wants to race and where ever he may go (if he leaves Hendricks) I will follow him!

I'm a die-hard Dale Jr. fan, and I'll follow Junior to Hendrick Motorsports. I don't have to like his new team mates, nor his new car owner, but Dale Jr. is my driver, and I will continue to be a die-hard fan. Dale Jr. did what was best for his career and I believe he made the best choice for himself, and not based on what his fans wanted. That's how it should be.

Yeah.. North Carolina the heart of most of NASCAR at least most of the shops are based out of there. Its been nice chattin back and forth on here. We will all see what Next session will hold for both Jr and the rest of Hendrick drivers. Im sure that this move will help both Hendricks and Jr.
