Dale Earnhardt, Jr not willing to pay the steep price of DEI control?

Taking control of DEI, his late father’s company, might come at too high a price for Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Last week, it was reported DEI offered Dale Earnhardt Jr. 51% ownership, which NASCAR’s most popular driver quickly denied. That’s not to say there weren’t informal discussions, rather it could be Junior simply stopped listening once he heard the asking price.
Several people familiar with the contract negotiations told The Associated Press that DEI has not made a formal offer and that any discussions centered around the 51% ownership share came with a steep asking price - $55 million or more - that the Earnhardt Jr. camp didn’t take seriously. That number would be in line with the going rate for a stake in a NASCAR team.
Boston Red Sox owner John Henry is believed to have spent about $60 million in February for a minority stake in Roush Fenway Racing. Those familiar with the negotiations requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak.
When reached Monday, Junior’s sister Kelley Earnhardt Elledge declined comment, citing the reporting of inaccurate information over the weekend in her desire to refrain from commenting until a formal announcement.

Why should Jr have to pay that much considering he allready owns one fifth of the team and should not have to pay as much as an outsider like the roush thing. If he talked to his other part owners maybe they would relingwish their parts much chaeper because I would think it ridulous for Teresa to ask for all that money is it just her or is the rest of the family asking for that much money? Dei will be nothing with out JR and the price would drop drastically if JR drives for someone else. Because there”s nothing left to hold the Company together if JR leaves WHO’S THE OTHER DRIVER???? And you put someone else in the No8 how would the team react I mean tony jr is family and so are some of the other guy’s. Would their be a team left? Jr. would probably carry them with him. Ms.Teresa better put her head on and realize how much she stands to lose. Or is she off in never,never land somewhere with Menard’s . Jr. could go anywhere he wants I dont think theirs a team in Nascar that would turn him down.
He and his siblings should not have to pay anything. That company belonged to their father . They should automaticlly be theirs already. There is enough to go around fo all of them including T hersa to unless she is GREEDY which sounds like the case to me .

Junior IS DEI and without him its nothing, it will be nothing as sad as that sounds its the truth, I love seeing Junior drive the number 8 Budwieser car and it wouldnt be right to see any one else drive it BUT if Teresa E. doesnt get her head out of her suave little butt shes wont have to worry about having a company to make any arrangements with. Dale Earnhardt Jr.is the name that was givin to him ,I think Dale Sr. took one look at jr when he was born and knew this kid is going to become a racer,why not ,dale followed in his dads footsteps. jr went with his dad almost any time he could be with him,racing is in the earnhardt’s blood. YUp my name is theresa too ,but i’ll tell you it’s make’s me sick to my stomach that she is a theresa,i’m a big earnhardt fan of both sr. and jr. I have so many freinds who didn’t watch nascar now they are at my home everytime there’s a race on which i don’t mind, when we talk about what’s going on with dale we all agree theresa _______ is an idiot for not letting jr have what is his from the day he was born with the name DALE EARNHARDT JR.
Actually, he wasn’t born Dale Earnhardt Jr. His born name is Ralph Dale Earnhardt. He;s names after his grandad who drove the #8 first. That’s why he’ll never leave DEI and teresa knows it. I too think Jr. should get the company just for racing. DEI is so far in the hole right now. They are borrowing equipment from Jr.s Busch headquatrters the way it is just so he can have a shot at winning a race. If he barred DEI from using his company’s stuff they probably wouldn’t even qualify. Teresa needs to figure out if he walks she has alot more to worry about than who to put behind the wheel. She won’t have a car good enough to hit the track.
Until I see or hear an offical announcement from Jr or Kelley,
I am taking all this with a grain of salt. Sure sometimes rumors are
true, sometimes they are not. I am not going to get worked up over
all of this.
I’m with CJ. But if Jr leaves I would like to see him goto Hendricks and work out a deal like what Jeff Gordan has with Hendricks and that Jr owns half the car/team with options to buy the other half in the future if he decides to . I think that would be the best in that situation of him leaving DEI. Everyone would like to see him go to RCR but I beleive Jr needs to be his own man and make his own career not be in the shadow of his father. But I beleive no matter what the out come is it will all work out in Jr’s favor.
I am a JR fan. However I would love to see how he would drive with a big motivated team of guys. Truex is good . Could u imagine just for a minute Jr driving for R C R ,or Tony in his BUD mobile with that group and only winning and helping the team , on his mind.
Instead of Dad Theresa money 51% etc etc etc It would be interesting. Not sure if he could let go

I THINK DALE JR. AND KELLI ARE JUST ABOUT THE CLASSIEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER SEEN. YOU COULD TELL DALE’S CHOICE WAS REALLY TEARING HIM UP BUT HE NEVER SAID ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THE OTHER OWNERS OF DEI. HE WAS A TRUE GENTLEMAN AND I KNOW HIS DAD IS PROUD OF HIM. GOD WILL BLESS HIM AND HE HAS MY PRAYRES. THANK YOU DALE FOR BEING SUCH A CLASS ACT. I PRAY FOR YOUR PAIN TO EASE.
