‘Dale’ believed to be best-selling sports DVD ever

“Dale,” the NASCAR Media Group/CMT Films documentary film about the life of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, is believed to be the highest-selling sports DVD ever, according to Jay Abraham, the chief operating officer of NASCAR Media Group.
“To best of our knowledge, it’s the largest selling sports DVD,” Abraham said.
ESPN.com contacted Billboard Magazine and its DVD-sales tracker, Nielsen VideoScan, to confirm the report, but those outlets don’t track Wal-Mart sales. To date “Dale” has only been available at Wal-Mart stores.
Not that that hasn’t proven successful. According to Abraham, the film has moved more than 800,000 copies. And it promises to get better.
“We’re very pleased with sales results,” Abraham said. “We’re looking forward to more sales as we get the wake effect of start of season, and expanded distribution to other retailers.”

This thing was limited to 1.5 mil copies in total. At least this first printing but we all know there will be another print extended super ultra delux edition or whatever. Good movie but i enjoyed 3 better.
He is the most popular driver of all time, and the best.
This was DEFINITELY the best movie ever. I could watch it back to back to back and still cry and it will never EVER get old. RIP 3
i will have to agree with you ganjadude. the movie DALE jumped around from year to year. the movie “3″ was a lot like it was with the meeting at the hotel with Richard, and Dales first crew chief with Osterman racing and with good old Humpy Wheeler. i was fortunate to be close to Dale in the 90s and i will not agree with the way they played Teresa in the movie but it was a great movie and i would recommend it over the movie DALE.
The whole tin boxed set of 6 was the best I have seen, I watched it of a total of 16 times so far, the other movie was a fake, I enjoyed seeing the real Dale, So the movie DALE is the greatest and will continue to be the greatest, and Teresa will continue to make millions on the tin boxed set !!! TEI NOT DEI
I received it for Christmas!
What a gift! It is awesome.
No spaming here!

hey yall i know i have been quite for a while now i am back….. and i will say this i like both of them….. i own both copies….. well the 3 has been out longer then the colleters tan…. i still like them both….. he will always be my hero and it will never change…… now for the fun part i can want to see some one drive that old car in 2013…….
3 was a great movie and i own both of Dale a # but Dale the movie is so much better, just something about hearing the stories in dales own words. If your a NASCAR fan you need to own or atleast see this movie.
I have Dale the Movie and I also have #3. I love both and would not take anything for either of them.
I also have ESPN’S Sports Century, Greatest Athletes “Dale Earnhardt. I just bought it and I have not watched yet.
I can’t believe Dale outsold the Brian France “The Secret Of My Success in NASCAR” a.k.a. “I Was Born In The Lucky $perm Pool” DVD or the “Ward Burton Needs A Translator” DVD box set by Boomhower.(lol)
I haven’t seen this Dale DVD yet, but I’m hoping it’s as good as you guys say it is. There are a lot of bad movies and DVD’s pertaining to sports all the time. I still get choked up when I watch Gary Cooper in “Pride Of The Yankees” and James Caan and Billy Dee Williams in the original ” Brian’s Song”.

Statement number 1 answer: That’s cause Dale was Nascar and will always will be the Man of Nascar.
Statement number 2 answer: You cannot make up a movie about someone and have it be exact, if it’s not exact, it’s “NO GOOD”, Yes the ESPN, the movie DALE are both good cause the real Dale is in it, now watching the movie DALE for the 17th time…..
RIP NUMBER 3!!!

Welcome back Kevin, yes I agree partially, if anyone brings the number 3 back out, it should be a “EARNHARDT”, if it’s not a Earnhardt, it should be retired, Junebug should also be the Earnhardt that drives it, Kerry would be my second pick…
Childress can put anyone he wants into the #3 car should he use that number again. Sadly, it doesn’t have to be an Earnhardt. In 1993, Petty stopped using the #43 and that car became the #44 with Wreck Wilson driving. When Petty realized they could lose the rights to that number, they went back to the #43 (1994). Before the #3 was made famous by big E, Rudd and Childress were the last ones using it. That #3 has been famous for about 25 years now. That’s about half of the time we’ve come to know that famous Petty #43. And the Childress #3 does have 6 titles but only about 80 wins combined compared to the 200+ wins for the Petty car. Kulwicki died as the reigning champ in 1993 and NASCAR never had any intentions of retiring his number. I am a Dale fan, but there is a cruel reality regarding the use of the #3. That kinda sux.
Hey JAG. I think Gigolo was joking about the Brian France and Ward Burton DVD sets. Probably because they don’t exist. Slow down a little. We know Dale was the man but I think you missed the point/sarcasm. Relax.
