The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series was seen by more Total Viewers in 2007 than in any other season since moving to SPEED in 2003 according to Nielsen Media Research. With an average Total Viewer count of 686,000, the Truck Series also saw impressive growth in younger demos, posting its best numbers in Men 18-34, Men 18-49 and Men 25-54.
“The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series continues to be one of the true cornerstones of the SPEED motor sports lineup,” said SPEED President Hunter Nickell. “The series always delivers great racing, cool storylines and great championship battles. To have champions like (Mike) Skinner and (Ron) Hornaday taking it down to the last race of the season in such dramatic fashion was what we’ve come to expect from this series and we’re committed to its continued growth on SPEED.”
Average Total Viewers of live events since NCTS came to SPEED in 2003 (Source: Nielsen Media Research):
# 2003 – 483,000
# 2004 – 581,000
# 2005 – 672,000

To increase exposure of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and its participants, SPEED made two races from 2007 available to FOX (Martinsville and Mansfield*) and developed a new popular pre-race program, NCTS Setup, hosted by Krista Voda. In 2008, the effort will continue as the plans are to again air a pair of Truck races on FOX, with the remainder live and exclusive to SPEED.
SPEED will wrap up the 2007 NCTS season on Dec. 7, with coverage of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Banquet from Florida (9 p.m. ET), as well as re-airs of the Trucks ’07: A Rivalry Renewed (8 p.m. ET) and Bobby Hamilton: Live to Race, Race to Live (10 p.m. ET).

I think it’s awesome that the truck series is doing so well. I’m glad. There is a reason for it too. The truck series does not have all that bull crap and drama that the Cup series has.
EXACTLY! Better racing.. and more fighting… I wish the people running the cup series see that. Stupid rules making racing more boring..
I think its because its on SPEED Channel. So I say put the Cup series exclusively on SPEED Channel. And for those that don’t get SPEED with your basic cable or satellite package, then spend a few extra dollars each month and get it.
Now they’re saying the truck series will LOSE CRAFTSMAN as a series sponsor after the 2008 season. The #75 team, an original founding 1995 team, closed it’s doors. That’s a shame!!
I’m willing to bet that Snap-on will jump on and try to capture the “tool” audience. But I think it’d be cool, if a company that has something to do with Trucks came on board as a sponsor, maybe LMC Truck parts or Real Truck or somebody like that.
