Could Dale Jr land another beverage sponsor?

Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain (Sundays, 9pm/et on SPEED) welcomed Darrell Waltrip on Sunday June 17 to talk about Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s move to Hendrick Motorsports. One comment was about Dale Jr.’s 2008 sponsor:
Dave Despain: (There’s) a great picture on the Internet. Somebody has already designed the paint job for the car. How quickly these things happen (with) the magic of the computer. There is your No. 5 Dale Jr. Budweiser car, all laid out for next year. Photoshop indeed.
Darrell Waltrip: That can’t be true because I don’t think it’s going to be Budweiser.
Dave Despain: That was one of my questions. You don’t think it will be Budweiser. Do you know who it will be? We’ve heard a shoe deal. We’ve heard a credit card deal from one of your buddies. What’s it going to be?
Darrell Waltrip: Yeah, wrong. It’ll probably still be something you could drink. That would my guess.
Dave Despain: “Something you could drink,” he said, hinting.
Darrell Waltrip: And it won’t be in a red can.

Hey JR. fans….stop crying! First DEI, and now Bud.
Anyone have a link to the pic of the #5 in a Bud scheme? I TiVoed Wind Tunnel, but haven’t watched yet. Guess I need to go back and do that sometime if I get a chance…
Any chance we see a Nike Swoosh on the #5 next year?
I heard he was in talks with Adidas, but for an apparel line, not sponsorship on the car.
Mountain DEW, gordon has pepsi and mountain dew is a pepsi product so is gatorade watch out for them too
I am really confused and do not know what to do. I have always loved jr but I never pictured him with hendrick let alone without budweiser lets see how this all plays out and see jr win a championship with whoever he decides to have for a sponcer
Wait. So people are not only, not going to be Jr. fans because he will move to Hendrick next year, but they will also abandoned him because he doesn’t have Bud on his car. And all this time I have been saying that Jr. didn’t make on fan himself, and that he got all his fans from his dad. Look like I was right.
Jr all the way.. I don’t care whats on the car.. I would love
for him to have a non alcohic drink as a sposer cause I don’t
drink so that would be a bonus for me.. Not only is he on the
best team in the sport he’ll have a sponser I can suport!!
GO JR!!
I don’t car if he has Tampax as a sponsor, I will follow him.
I would rather he not use Bud too…just because it’s tough to follow him and
wear his apparel to church and my kids can’t wear it to school! I’ll follow
him regardless of where he is or who his sponsor is…makes no difference
to me. I agree with Allen that he could drive a multi-colored bread box
and still be cool!
Go JR!!!

Go JR!!!
Budweiser, Jr., and racing go hand in hand! Boo, I will follow Jr of course but part of me will be sad indeed to see Bud go to someone else. TEAR
You all really think Darrell knows, I don’t think he does.
Good news…he would have just as many championships driving a multi-colored bread box as he does right now!!!!
You know guys, even if he might not be driving for Bud, doesn’t mean he might not be driving for the parent company (Anheuser-Busch) they do make other beer and I believe (though its been a while since I’ve had one) that Bud Light has a blue label (sorry if I’m wrong on that). Busch also brews the obvious Busch beer as well as Michelob. So, if the company itself (Anheuser-Busch) wants to keep the money coming in that they make from sponsoring Junior, there are ways they could do it without it being the red Bud car.
Ben H, there are some Jr fans that ARE true Jr fans. I didn’t start watching racing until AFTER Dale’s death. Ihis true fans will follow him, not because of HMS, a number or sponsor, but because we believe in Jr. Some of us are part of JUNIOR NATION, not EARNHARDT NATION.
First of all Jr. has no championships and just bc he went to Hendrick doesn’t mean he will
win any. His is no more talented than Harvick. I hate to say it but he has earned the majority
of this because of who is dad is. Now that he will be at Hendrick you can’t bring up excuses,
he if doesnt win there he just isn’t good enough. There is a reason he is not mentioned on the
list of the most talented drivers on the circuit. He’s got a lot to prove but he is at the place
where he can do it best. Welcome HMS. JR.
amen Layton!
WOOOO I vote for Mountian Dew!!!! ahahahaha
I was a Dale Sr fan but my loyalty has always been Kyle Petty. He has only 8 wins and I cant even tell you when he won his last race, but I am LOYAL to my driver. So if you are really a Jr fan be a LOYAL fan no matter what happens.
BTW when Kyle wins a race there will not be a dry eye in the house.. got to have hope..lol
Yahoo, Mountain Dew! Maybe, maybe not? Pepsi? Another Pepsi family brand? I can’t believe anyone would willingly give up Budweiser. Maybe Michelob or Busch because the Busch name will be leaving as a series sponsor and it has name recognition. Fritos? God it’s fun trying to figure this crap out.
Dr. Pepper
YooHoo…lol.
Andy Dr Pepper is A) not a pepsi product B) a death sponsorship…..RIP
anyone who LISTENS to DW to begin with needs HELP!
let the drama continue!! lol
I agree with Mare. I believe he used more past champion provisionals in one year than anyone else. His Boogity catch phrase, that he spells 2 different ways, was stolen from the Ray Stevens novelty song “The Streak” from 1974. He acts like that kid in class that had that sh*t eating look on his face because he thought he was cute at being SOO smart. I don’t miss his telecasts.
Hey, Mare…I believe DW was the one that was correct about what team Jr was going to. Jeff Hammond announced Joe Gibbs Racing and DW said Hendrick and given the fact that he is very close to Jr (close enough for Jr to ask him specifically to be there at the press conference when he announced he was leaving DEI) that he might just know something about what is going on.
