AT&TNASCAR’s search for a sponsor for its Busch series seems to have hit some snags, and it’s unclear if that has anything to do with the NASCAR battle with AT&T over its Nextel Cup sponsorship and NASCAR’s claims of exclusivity, which AT&T is challenging.

NASCAR has a $30 million price tag on its Busch tour. One possibility - that NASCAR might persuade AT&T to take that Busch series sponsorship. AT&T’s annual media ad budget is $3.4 billion.

I was talking with my folks Saturday night about the AT&T debacle, and I came to the conclusion that AT&T should definitely pick up the Busch Series sponsorship. What way to send a bigger FU to Nextel than to tell them they have to take down all the Nextel/Sprint logos and banners around the track during a Busch race, etc…

jeff im lmfao right now bc that would be fricken GREAT

I’d personally like to see Jeff Burton win the next race with his unsponsored car and then, in victory lane say, “I’d like to thank AT&T for still paying the bills even though their logo isn’t allowed on my car..”

KyleZ06, That would be cool but I dont see NASCAR letting that happen. If Jeff is leading late in the race and has a dominant car I bet you’ll see one of NASCARs “special cautions” and when Jeff pits he’ll get cought speeding on pit road and sent to the back. I also don’t see them letting him win the Cup this year.

gkirb you are right. I was reading your post and thinking to myself that it was totally absurd… Then I stopped and thought about it. NASCAR is just crooked enough to do something like throwing the mysterious caution for invisible debris just to make sure Burton doesn’t get into victory lane.

Unless he gets hot, I don’t think they have to worry about him winning the cup, but there’s not much they can do about that… Sprint/Nextel HAD to know that was a possibility as long as they grandfathered in Cingular and Alltel. Plus, I think it would be too hard for NASCAR to make enough calls through the chase to stop Burton from getting a shot and not have it be painfully obvious to all the fans. While they have no credibility in most people’s eyes, I don’t think they would be willing to go THAT far!

HAHA. It’d be interesting if AT&T hosted Busch Series..

I hope the 31 team gets to victory lane this year.
