I always thought he was jealous of Dale. They were both second generation drivers and came into the sport at almost the same time. Marlin's career, even with 2 wins in the 500, pales in comparison to Dale. What's he have? Maybe 10 wins? Junior Johnson even gave him a shot that didn't pan out. He would never draft with Dale at Daytona or Talladega. But he always drafted with Jeffy against Dale. Marlin drove like an idiot in 1994 at Pocono and wrecked Chuck Bown in Bobby Allison's car. And you go look at the youtube of it, Dale would have hit at a less severe angle (almost flush with the passenger side) but the 36 car caught the right rear QP, hooking the 3 car head on into the wall.
