Dale Earnhardt Inc. officials announced Thursday that Coors Light will sponsor Regan Smith’s No. 01 Chevrolet for the next two Sprint Cup races at California Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Smith’s No. 01 entry will carry logos highlighting Coors Light’s status as the “official beer of NASCAR and NASCAR fans everywhere.”
“We’re thrilled that we have the opportunity to partner with DEI to feature our new NASCAR relationship in a couple of early season races,” said Bryce McTavish, vice president of sponsorship and channel marketing, Coors Brewing Co.
Coors Light replaced Budweiser as the official beer of NASCAR for the 2008 season.
Financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed.
- Coors Light to become the official beer of NASCAR-UPDATE
- Coors leaving Ganassi at end of season
- Stremme OK after getting out of car at Dover
- New sponsor for DEI’s No 01
- Marlin replaced by Regan Smith for the Brickyard, Nemechek could be out too

What are the chances that IF this car somehow manages to win that people everywhere will be saying that “NASCAR Rigged the Race, so the NASCAR sponsored car could win” …l0l
I’m all for Coors sponsoring the cars, but having a NASCAR logo on the car other then the NASCAR race car logo is bound to raise some eyebrows IF that car were to win.
COORS BEER , A very poor replacement for Budweiser but now that DEI is a second rate team I guess
they have to take what they can get even if it comes from a nascar deal…
FISHY; Not a chance in hell that the 01 car will win one of those races…
Coors Light. The beer that sponsored Marlin on the day Big E died. Hmm.
And your point is….??? It was Schrader in the M&Ms car that caused Sr’s car to hit head on, if Schrader wouldn’t have been there Dale’s car would’ve more then likely hit the passenger side of the car flush with the wall (well as flush as a straight car can be on a curved wall) which would’ve been much less of a severe impact which even with the cut belts (did they ever figure out who that happened) he probably would’ve been ok.
Good luck Regan
fisha thats bs!!! go watch youtube and see it for your self it was NOT 38 car. why dont you shut up! god i dont know about the rest of us but i am sick of your yap!
I never said it was the 38 car, because it wasn’t it was the 36 car owned by MB2. And you go look at the youtube of it, Dale would have hit at a less severe angle (almost flush with the passenger side) but the 36 car caught the right rear QP, hooking the 3 car head on into the wall.
Here is the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H3zAANqCWE , pause it 3 seconds in and then go slowly and you will see that if the 36 would not have been there Dales car would not have hooked into the wall like that.

I have always thought that it was interesting that Marlin was the driver that hit SR in the two worst wrecks.
1. Talladega
2. Daytona
Bob I never said it was the 38 car, but that is because it wasn’t the 38 car at that time was still the 28 car. If you actually know anything about NASCAR you should know that in 2001 the M&Ms car was the number 36, and was part of the MB2 team.
And once my other comment clears moderation you will see exactly what I am talking about that if it were not for the 36 car Ralphy boy would not have hit the wall at the direction he did and it would’ve been a more flush hit with the passenger side, thus making the impact less severe, meaning there would be a greater possibility that he would not have internally decapitated himself.
First of all, after Dale’s fatal wreck, people said Dale was blocking. He was protecting the two lead cars of Mikey and Junior (DEI cars). Possibly. That if he didn’t block, Marlin (Coors Light) wouldn’t have gotten into him and sent him up into Schrader and eventually, the wall. Marlin was sent over 100,000 threats at Sabco’s website and his own. A lot of people believe Marlin started the wreck that killed Dale. Others say it was just a racing deal. For weeks after the incident, Marlin blamed Rusty Wallace. Rusty was in the middle of that pack, but Marlin clearly made contact with Dale. Watch that wreck in slow motion a few times and see for yourself. About a month later, Marlin finally admitted that he got into Dale. He said Dale backed off (to protect his cars). I find it ironic that the sponsor of a car involved in the death of a star like Dale would one day sponsor his teams.
Sam, Marlin always drove over his head when he raced with Senior. I always thought he was jealous of Dale. They were both second generation drivers and came into the sport at almost the same time. Marlin’s career, even with 2 wins in the 500, pales in comparison to Dale. What’s he have? Maybe 10 wins? Junior Johnson even gave him a shot that didn’t pan out. He would never draft with Dale at Daytona or Talladega. But he always drafted with Jeffy against Dale. Marlin drove like an idiot in 1994 at Pocono and wrecked Chuck Bown in Bobby Allison’s car. The old quarter panel hook job (driver’s side backwards into the wall). Chuck had to quit racing for years because he had double vision and they couldn’t correct it. Chuck tried racing a little later on with little success. He was cut down in his prime because of his vision.

FISHY, You must be a Earnhardt hater to refer to Dale Sr. as “Ralphy boy”. This type of disrespect of the dead and a Great driver like he was only shows this board you immaturity, so grow up or get lost.
His legal name is Ralph Earnhardt, just like “Dale” JRs legal name is Ralph Earnhardt JR. That is part of the reason that a few years ago there was the whole issue of Ralph Earnhardt Jr getting the rights to the name “Dale Earnhardt JR” from DEI.
It was no coincident that Marlin got the ax as DEI absorbed Ginn Racing. And I was happy when Coors told Ganassi they wanted a younger image and they dumped Marlin. There were 3 Ralphs, but only 2 Ralph Dales. Wait! Three Ralphs. The number 3. I’m getting a vision. A vision that all bloggers that use this space can get along in harmony. A world where black and white children can hold hands. Wait a minute! Martin Luther King, Jr had that vision. Well, it’s a political year and you can’t believe everything they throw your way.
Yes his name was Ralph Earnhardt, so true BUT not Ralphy boy !! I would have loved to see what any one looked like after calling him Ralphy boy to his face… And still a very disrespectfull comment.
Ralphy Boy is what the Art Carnie/Norton character called the Jackie Gleason character on “The Honeymooners” TV show. There are no others. There is one and only one Ralphy Boy. Come on Tuna Fisha. Be a little more creative ARCA boy. Right now, I’m thinking you don’t like anyone tweaking your name.
I could care less what anybody calls me, or tweaks my name.
