Richard Childress said he hopes to have an announcement soon that he has signed Jeff Burton to a contract extension. Childress is also working on an extension with sponsor AT&T. Burton’s deal runs out at the end of this year.
“Hopefully we get a few things sorted out here in the next week or so, and we’ll be able to make some type of a release on that,” Childress said Saturday. “It’s definitely the plan for him to stay but we can’t do anything at this point. We’re working on hopefully being able to do something to release it here in the near future.”
