Richard ChildressRichard Childress didn’t want to talk about his driver lineup for 2009 Sunday morning, but he was adamant in talking about what happened following the previous day’s Nationwide Series race.

As far as whether Casey Mears has signed a deal to drive for Richard Childress Racing next season with Jack Daniel’s moving over as his sponsor and General Mills paired with current RCR driver Clint Bowyer, Childress didn’t say much.

“Any comments I have got to make, I’ll make them next week,” said Childress, who is expected to make that announcement next Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway.

As far as seeing Joe Gibbs Racing’s Nationwide Series team get caught interfering with the inspection process by manipulating the throttle on the chassis dynamometer, Childress was a little more vocal, saying whoever was responsible should be kicked out of the garage.

“I’ll say it’s damn blatant,” Childress said. “I’m surprised they got caught. When people get an advantage, they don’t want to give it up and sometimes they go to extremes to keep from giving up an advantage, and that’s just what they did.”

Bowyer currently leads the Nationwide Series driver standings by 113 points over Carl Edwards but his No. 2 RCR team is 318 points behind the No. 20 JGR team in the owner standings.

NASCAR Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton indicated that penalties will be levied this week.

It’s not like RCR never got caught cheating.

As far as the dyno thing, that was actually AFTER the cars got inspected.

And I’m still trying to figure out how the heck a magnet was used to give the car less HP.

Also I don’t really think this was an JGR or TRD thing as much as it was a rouge employee thing.

First of all, you’ll were talking about the added horsepower that the Toyotas had not gibbs anytime you’ll brought up cheating. Second of all I think we all know, that if Gibbs had done this before they would have been caught. Third they were never guilty of cheating before, they were guilty of making more horsepower, which is why nascar asked them to lower the HP, and didnt penalize them for chreating.

Now I will agree if they were cheating they need to be penalized, theres no argument to. Just so everyone is clear this is the FIRST time this season the GIBBS cars in the Nationwide series, have been in a situation where it would appear they were cheating, which if they did they need to be punished. If they had done this before we all know they would have been caught before, and if they had, and were not caught then thats nascars fault for doing there inspection wrong. I agree though if they were cheating they need to be punished.

AND DARRELL im not quite sure if your comment bout about the lying sack of crap was for me. the only thing PATHETIC is that the other manufactuers in the series could not keep up with toyota, so nascar had to step and help the other teams. Let me remind you, not all the wins KB in the nationwide series were not in a gibbs car, also his truck wins were not in a gibbs car. Lets face one race they tried something and gotr caught.

I guess they were used to keep the pedal from going to the floor, but I dont think that would hide anything cause the engine really reaches its power band before the pedal hits the floor so its already reached its max power.

Now nascar will suspect them at every race and the way they make all the extra horsepower will be revealed. I can’t wait!

Kyle Shrub lost today because he forgot to take the magnets out from behind his gas pedal, damn that would have gave him 5-10 more HP…LOL

I just left the media room and this is one of the worst infractions ever seen in NASCAR. Buddy Baker said the fines and suspensions are going to be the biggest in the history of NASCAR and will tarnish the Gibbs organization and Toyota and the drivers for a long time.

That ROCKS Howie, thanks for the info on those goofball cheaters!!!

plus the word from Tony is that the magnets had to be placed there before the race because the officials walked along with the cars after the race to the chassis dyno. they were clearly trying to hide the HP that the Toyotas have and Tony even said let the chips fall where they fall. Quote “I had nothing to do with it”

I’m buying magnet stocks as we speak!

The one key item to point out that it’s going to be a big infraction is the fact that in one of the Pressers released about this either today or yesterday skipped straight over the fines and mentioned sanctions. l0l

I’m suprised old man Dousche [I mean Roushe] :] hasn’t said something. He’s always got his gonads in a knot when it comes to Toyota. LOL

I have heard some crazies on Sirius radio that thought the drivers put them in. There is no
way Tony or Joey Logano would want their cars to go slower. As a Kyle Busch fan I am so glad
Kyle wasn’t driving one of cars this weekend. RC calling Gibbs out for this is totally the
    pot calling the kettle black.

I have never heard of RCR ever cheating.

Seems it may lead to fines far surpassing anything in the History of Stock Car Racing. This has been going All Year. Now it comes out that it’s been known why the #20 Car is winning so many races. This creek is not flowing over to the Cup side and looking at all JGR cars, they are too fast and too good.

  16. 16 Cybil

Damn I wish that had happened in Sprint CUP!!!!!! There butts would be cooked! It’s going to be a nasty ride for JGR. But they deserve every ounce of it!

Ya know it’s all weird why the Shrub is all of a sudden winning back to back races in Nationwide, Truck & Cup, you never know, he could have been in on the deal as well, but covered it up awfully well, things can surprise you, keep a watchful eye out, the biggest fines in Nascar history are about to be handed out!!!

You never know, it could have been, but they weren’t caught yet !!!

  20. 20 Bdeholl

Holy Cow Batman, he won exactly 1 X last year for a team that won 50% of the Cup races, yet this year he goes to a team with a new manufacturer and bingo, they find their groove! (all legally naturally…) BTW, I’d take Gustafson over this year’s version ’straight-up’ (aka, for JGR fans, no cheating).

Say it ain’t so Joe… you too JD…

Yea what did Earnhardts car look like at Talladega one year? I think it was maybe 2000?
where they had to cut the entire rear of the car off because
    it was out of shape?
    thats cheating I think.

You fail to know one thing about this day/year…

They (The Car Builders) noticed that before inspection and they corrected it before inspection, so NO CHEATING, I am looking at the book when that happened as I type this…
