Jack RoushChevrolet has been pushing for NASCAR to OK its Cup-side R07 engine for Nationwide competition; NASCAR has been pushing Ford to design a new Nationwide engine, but Ford men say they can’t afford to make obsolete what engine parts they’re currently using.

“If they want to kill that series, go right ahead,” Roush said.

In NASCAR’s three national touring series this season, Toyota teams have won 24 of the 48 races, including Friday night’s victory. The majority of those wins have been by Gibbs’ teams, which have won six Cup races going into last night’s race.

why would this have anything to do with JACK ROUSH? i beleive he is in a Ford the last i was checkin and this article is about chevrolet….why would he even be included in this conversation period…..

and chevy has every right to push for the r07 so they will gain back that horsepower….did everyone NOT SEE Hamlin (in the nationwide race) and Kyle (in the cup race) lose the draft by almost 2-3 seconds and catch back up BY THEMSELVES without any help from other cars…tell me thats not a HP advantage….guess what, They both ended up in victory lane because of it…if nascar wants to keep and gain fans, they can not let toyota take over the NWS and the NSCS like they did with the Craftsman Trucks….

Jack wants to talk about them “ruining” the series….lets see JGR has won 12 races out of 18 now….thats pretty boring, and pointless to watch the races when you know that 20 team is gonna win every week…why watch it right?…..tell me how chevy getting a better engine is going to HURT the series….all its going to do is even the playing field for chevy…Nascar is not telling FORD they cant come up with more HP to catch Toyota…Jack is just crying about it…..personally ALL THESE CUP DRIVERS running the full schedules in the NWS and taking championships/Wins away from drivers like Brad Kessolowski (who is only 2nd in the pts because his equipment is some of the best to keep up with the JGR teams), and many others that are very deserving of the chance to….thats whats ruining the Nationwide Series…yea the racing is good and the cup stars put the buts in the seats…but if you think otherwise, your insane

Jack a loser?WTF?Look in the mirror dumbass.Try thinking before you spout off on something you obviously have no clue about.Good grief.

So what JGR has spent there money wisely…Thats how you get horsepower. Chevy needs to do there homework… and yes Jack is a cry baby. He is wining that Toyota is cheating and trust me there not.

  5. 5 Lee88-20

Its not how much money JGR has spent, its just the engine nascar approved the toyotas to run has more power if you look the redbull teams are fast even blaney with bill davis has been a lot faster, chevy has there homework done but nascar wont let them run the r07 at the moment.

I really don’t see why NASCAR won’t allow Chevy to run the R07. The other manufactueres get to run their Cup engines, so why can’t Chevy?

I agree with you up to Kyle and Denny’s ability to catch up to the draft after falling back. However, you’re “ruining” the series argument, it’s identical to last year’s “Hendrick Dominance”. Well, this year is “Gibbs’ Dominance”.. It’s no different. So you can’t really say anything about that..

The only problem with everyones comments are that nascar released numbers last week , that said DODGE actually is making the most horsepower of the manufactors in Cup. Getting the cars set up to handle and apply that horsepower to the ground is where the winners are succeding. Not to mention the fact that Kyle Busch is running up front in all 3 series , no matter who he drives for , and dont forget the 51 truck is a Chevy. If you take his wins out of the Cup picture , no other driver is really dominating EVERY week like HMS did last year.

The 51 switched to Toyota this year.

Jack Roush has never had a problem trying to outspend everyone in the garage to get his way… He’s just mad because he’s getting his butt kicked by the #20 week in and week out in the NWS. It certainly isn’t going to kill Jack and all NWS ringers to have to build a new engine package. It might hurt some of the smaller teams in NWS, but it would be pocket change to Roush. I really wish this guy would just STFU and go away.

well im glad someone agrees with what i have to say and not think im sitting here whining about it…they clearly have a major HP advantage and Nascar needs to allow chevy to bring their CUP engine over…Ford has more money, they just don’t want to spend it and Roush is going to have to get over it…

this article is about the NWS not the NSCS..so the HMS “domination” doesnt have anything to do with this….they didnt even hardly do anything in the Busch series last season…but ive said it once on this board and ill say it again…HMS did not dominate last season…yes they have the wins, but if you look at the individual races they won, over HALF of them was by pure luck…other than the ones they won during the CHASE…..Mechanical Failures or Fuel pick up problems from JGR, most of the wins belonged to JGR and now they are getting that luck back that they lost last year is all thats going on…….HMS was just LUCKY last year is all….they havent slumped this year, they are still running as good, just dont have all those wins…

i also love how Kyle Busch fans are consistently saying Dale Jr sucks…..and hes 2nd in the pts…guess you have to suck pretty damn bad to be that high in the pts…espec running better than a Back 2 Back Champ and a 4 time champ who is on your own team…

Yeah the last part of your post cracks me up I mean as of now jr is having a better season than kyle had last year at hendrick Im sure gordon or johnson would love to be sitting where jr is now oh I forgot jr sucks so bad,as for toyota I dont have a problem im a stewart fan too im not complaining about what advantage they may have because gordon probably would have won if he’d have stayed on the bottom or for that matter if kenseth had stayed behind edwards instead of dropping behind busch edwards couldve won.

No one has mentioned the fact all of the Nationwide engines now run a tapered spacer that takes away horsepower. I believe TRD has a lot to do with JGR being dominant funneling all of their money into the program and with JGR Mark Cronquist is one heck of an engine builder. It is possible Toyota hit on something with the engine using the tapered spacer and the other teams have not.
Darrell HMS did dominate last year and JGR is this year! The parity with the COT is a joke because along comes something like this and rule changes that give one team an advantage.
Jack has won in Nationwide look at the spanking Carl did on the field last year. Now we seem to have Clint Bowyer dominating with Brad running second mainly because they’ve stayed out of wrecks. Jack hates Toyota–most Ford people do. I drive a Ford Focus and let me tell you it has more horsepower than a Corolla and gets better gas mileage than the Corolla my daughter has. It’s the engine there as well. The only vehicles Toyota wise that are better and more fuel efficient than a Ford or Chevy are the trucks, vans and SUV. Their passenger cars are no better than the Chevy Malibu or the Ford Focus or Fusion. Dodges are another story–the Neon stinks, bad in crashes and mileage is no better. Their trucks are gas hogs.

FOR THE LAST TIME HMS DID NOT DOMINATE LAST YEAR!!!!!….yeah they won races..and the championship…but 90% of the races they won, they shouldnt have….they were the bridesmaids when it counted the most…but you cant change the results so they got the wins….but JGR was leading with 20 to go or on GWC finsihes and HAD PART FAILURES or fuel pickup problems…stewart and hamlin BOTH had those issues at the first COT race last year at Bristol and they had it won by a long shot…go look it up seriously…they should have won all those races….but still would have lost the title cause they werent that strong in the chase as HMS was….JGRs COT Program has always been the best…still is…they just didnt have the luck last year…now they do and their cars are staying together..except for Hamlin (which i could careless about cause hes the reason JR dont have 2 wins this year)..but anyways

as for the NWS and that tapered spacer…its gonna kill the SAME amount of HP for every car…just like it does for the cup series restrictor plates….so if toyota has 30 more HP going in…they are still going to have 30 more HP…its as simple as that…doesnt matter with that spacer or not, they still have an advantage…and thats why chevy is lobbying to get their R07…and Ford should pull their head out of their arse and do the same otherwise they are gonna be more than obselete in racing…NWS or NSCS….

This is all about NASCAR kissing Toyota’s butt. They let them bring one engine package to both series for their convenience. I am a Chevy man, but have no problem admitting that the Toyota engine does have all of the other manufacturers beat. Chevrolet had to re-submit the RO7 engine 7 times before NASCAR approved it, thus why it is called the RO7. Toyota probably only had to submit one engine. NASCAR has lost touch with who made the sport and that is the drivers and DETROIT.

One other thing, thank goodness Honda isn’t in NASCAR because their motors would dominate way more than Toyota, just look at their success in INDY.

don’t make assumptions that Toyota only submitted ONE engine. They had the same hurdles that the R07 did. NASCAR kept turning down their design until the very last minute.

It’s easy to be a success in Indy when you’re the only engine supplier right now! The first year Toyota and Honda joined the IRL (2003), Toyota took drivers and manufacturers championships, and won the Indy 500. Anyways, Honda doesn’t even make a production vehicle with a V8.

Roush: “I’m not winning so everyone else much be cheating”.

And I thought some of the people on this board were morons…

But he is right about one thing - they can kill off Cup, Jr. for all I care anymore. It used to be about up and coming talent. Now it’s an extended practice for Sunday’s Cup race.
