Bobby LabonteGeneral Mills has selected Breaking Limits as its motorsports agency for event and promotional marketing, giving Bobby Labonte’s new firm its first client. Labonte, the 2000 NASCAR Cup Series champion, opened Breaking Limits in the fall as a full-service marketing agency. For the past two seasons, Cheerios, a General Mills brand, has been the primary sponsor on Labonte’s #43 Dodge at Petty Enterprises.

General Mills has sponsored the #43 since 2000, when it replaced longtime Petty sponsor STP. General Mills has been the only primary sponsor for the car since then. General Mills previously was an associate sponsor for Roush Racing’s #6 Valvoline car driven by Mark Martin. “We’re looking forward to help grow their brand and presence in the sport for years to come,” Labonte said. Julie Busha, director of marketing at Breaking Limits, will oversee the account.

It was handed to Bobby. Let’s hope this venture really takes off for him. He is a good guy and we always like to see good guys do well.

Bobby hasnt gotten the respect that he deserves. For him to finish 17th in points for Petty Enterprises shows that he’s still capable of contending. Plus Im sure he was happy to finish in front of the 18 car in the points.

I’m surprised Bobby hasn’t put that Dodge in the winner’s circle. Remember the great run he had at Atlanta in 2006 and it blew up? He looked real good. I plan on seeing him win one soon. He is one of the most liked and respected drivers in all of motorsports. He’s just not flashy or outspoken. I applaud the King for hiring the right people to turn that program around. 2008 should be even better.
