Can The Wood Brothers re-capture some old magic?
Quote selected text Published April 1st, 2007 in NASCAR News
The Wood Brothers have 96 all-time NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series victories, including two at Martinsville Speedway. However, those wins came in the sixties and seventies with Cale Yarborough (1968) and David Pearson (1973). With Wood Brothers driver Ken Schrader qualifying fourth for today’s race co-owner Len Wood assessed his teams chances of re-capturing some old glory and winning the race:
“I wouldn’t rule it out. In practice yesterday they never made a change. It was good. Schrader kept saying the car turned really good and he didn’t know what else to ask for, and then he went out and qualified fourth.
There are obviously a lot of factors, like not getting torn up, getting in someone else’s mess, and not making your own mistakes, but I wouldn’t rule it out.”
- Schrader in the No 21 for Kansas, Jon Wood to run 2nd car
- Wood Bros and crew chief Nead split
- Air Force returns to the Wood Bros No 21, Wood to drive
- Wood Brothers, JTG Racing change business model
- Wood Brothers, Bill Elliott sign Heinz to the No 21
