Callaway and NewPage say they will not renew their contracts as official sponsors of NASCAR when their contracts run out at the end of this year, Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Daily reports.
Callaway is the official golf club of NASCAR, while another Callaway brand, Top-Flite, is the official golf ball. NewPage is NASCAR’s paper of choice.
The story says Callaway has expressed interest in continuing to work with NASCAR on golf outings for sponsors and other partners.

Word has it that Callaway was not impressed with falling TV ratings and track attendance.
What?! Falling ratings and track attendence is news to me, NASCAR is bigger than ever! If that is the case then put more races on FOX.. I miss watching D.W. announce, boogity boogity boogity… let’s go racin boys!!!
wow Manda where have you been, out camping in the outback, ratings and track attendance’s are the worst they have ever been, that’s why investors and sponsors are scrambling. NASCAR is on a downhill spiral and their isn’t enough parachutes.
Well hello from down under, all I can say is that’s a shame..
In all reality, whether it is up or down is a relative issue. Compare to the past couple seasons, yes, it is down. However, if you go back further, it is up significantly form say even 10 years ago. I think what has happened more than anything is that it has hit a plateau and the “newness” is wearing off of those fans newly exposed to the sport.
Face it, anything that keeps going up, especially at the pace NASCAR was, has to experience a downward trend every now and then. It’s good for the sport. It forces the powers that be to keep up with trends and fans and not just fall into a redundant state. The way I see it, the ball is now in the France’s court for them to put the right people into place to make the right choices based on fans input for a change.
In other words, they tried it their way, now lets get back to what works again!
the biggest problem is the COT it’s ugly, slow and difficult for teams to get anything out of. the car is so hit or miss that it is really taking the competition out of the sport and another thing is this top 35 rule and thirdly nascar refuses to listen to the fans infact they wont even acknowledge us which is a kick in the teeth
Paul you got it about right. All is not doom and gloom. Paying the be the “official golf ball of NASCAR” was a pretty dumb business move anyway. That’s not going to sell golf balls.
I disagree it is going down hill fast,I havent seen so many empty seats since the late 80s and with ticket prices going up at crappy tracks gonna be more empty seats, myself ill pay my 12/15 bucks an go to the local sat.nite late model races more fun and better racing….
I agree with George Thompson, he has voiced a lot of people’s opinion and no nascar officals will listen to the fans. It took racing out of it….It is hard to explain but to me it seems it ends up with good or bad luck and how good of pit crew you have. What is up with the last 20 laps of the race they need to go to commercial duh….. we want to watch something exciting since they have taken out real hard hit them in the a** never let off the gas and rolling into victory lane, now it if you are lucky you can watch a rerun of one coasting across the line out of gas LOL.
well there goes another sponsor. sombody needs to kick brian frances ass so we dont turn into formula one…. oops i forgot… we basically are formula one. its just our drivers have a roof over their head durin the race.
someone please send Brian to detox Nascar needs a sober leader
Hello!
I think this try.
