Carl EdwardsNASCAR Busch Series points leader Carl Edwards has been penalized for a technical infringement found on his car after the Busch Series race at New Hampshire last weekend.

Officials found during the post-race inspection that the right rear shock absorber on the No. 60 Ford of Edwards was not in conformity with the rules, as it did not compress within the specified period of time that the Busch Series rulebook states.

As a result, his crew chief Pierre Kuettel was fined US $5,000, while Edwards was docked 25 championship driver points and team owner Jack Roush was penalized with the loss of 25 championship owner points.

The penalty doesn’t quite affect Edwards’ lead in the standings as he still enjoys a massive 784 points advantage over David Reutimann in the championship.

Another case of trying to keep the leaders in the series in sight.
This is how NASCAR deals with a runaway points leader!

Nah, just giving the officials something to do and not giving the rest of the Busch series something to whine about. It would take more than even 200 points to put Carl in sight.
