Kyle BuschKurt Busch stood a few feet away from his mangled bronze race car late Saturday night, still almost dazed by how quickly and how bitterly his run at winning the Nextel All-Star Challenge had gone away.

One moment Busch was rushing toward the front and that’s when he caught a glimpse of a car beside him on the inside.

It was his brother, Kyle, and suddenly they were tangled up. Sheet metal rubbed, sparks flew and two nights ended the wrong way for the Busch brothers.

“I’ve been waiting for the day” Kurt Busch started after climbing from his car, working to subdue the frustration of a fractured night.

Waiting for the day when he and his brother ran into each other at the wrong time.

That time came Saturday night in the final segment of the big-money race when both brothers had the idea they could win a race that ultimately belonged to Kevin Harvick.

“Inevitably, the Busch brothers had to get together,” Kurt said. “We did it in an all-star race. A million bucks were up for grabs and I’m sure that’s why he didn’t lift and I’m sure that’s why I didn’t give an inch. We wrecked two good race cars.”

Kurt Busch was about to move around Jeff Burton when his brother roared up beside him. He was surprised by the aggressive move by his brother on the second lap of the final segment. “It startled me,” Kurt said.

For an instant, it looked as if both drivers might escape with nothing more than a scare, but it didn’t happen. Once Kyle Busch’s blue car started sliding up the banking in the first turn, there was no saving either Busch brother.

“Maybe I should have given an inch and maybe he shouldn’t have taken that inch,” Kurt said. “I’m pretty sure we’ll discuss this. We can’t just let it go.

“He’s wrecked a lot of Busch (series) cars right now. I’ve got to say that. I’ve been trying to tell him to calm down a little bit and back off. Instead of running 100 percent maybe he should run at 98. He was at 102 right there.”

THAT WAS AWESOME I CAN’T STAND EITHER ONE OF THEM CRY BABIES

  4. 4 mike

That was the best part of the whole race.
Better the Carl saying Mark Drivers a Ford
and better then Kyles Crew Cheif saying it’s The Winston like it was back in the good old days.

Well I missed the race because I had to keep my grandchildren and my daugheter only has local channels but when my mom told me what happened, of course I jumped online to nascar.com and watched the video. I was thrilled to see Kyle Busch hit the wall again. The only that was better was a few weeks ago when Kyle hit the wall Saturday in the Busch race and then Sunday was well. I was ALMOST as excited as when Dale Sr., won Daytona. I despise Kyle, my headline on myspace is: Luv Dale Jr., Hater of Kyle Busch. It couldn’t have happened to a better person.

  7. 7 Trevor

haha, good for em! Maybe kurt will finally realize what a dumb ass piece of inbred shit his brother is

  8. 8 marc

I AGREE it was the best part of the whole race seeing both the Busch Bums take each other out, it was a toss up between that and Hendrick not winning. HMMMM OK The Busch Brothers taking themselves out that was the best. Do it some more guys, Kyle you wont know what you got till its gone. Grow the hell up!! I am beginning to single you out as the most hated driver ( a close running with your brother) go back to legends or Hendrick and Penske should take some money away from you.

  9. 9 Slugger

Funny , everyone forgets how many wrecks Jeff Gordon was in in his first couple years.

  10. 10 Andrew

Its the All-Star Race. Second place is nothing, First is $1,000,000. I wouldnt want a driver to follow a car around all race. Kyle Busch thought he had an opportunity to move into second (with a fast race car) and even possibly win the whole thing. I dont see how you can be mad at him…as DW said its checkers or wreckers..

  11. 11 Laura

    Yeah that was funny. Babies.

  12. 12 Dara

I haven’t forgotten how Jeff Gordan was his first few years but he’s matured, at that time, he was pretty hated by many as well. Did you hear the crowd cheering when the Busch brothers wrecked. I use to hate Jeff Gordan for years, and not because I’m a JR., fan, just because of the way he drove ( a lot like Kyle ) but I have found myself cheering for ANYONE to win the race except for Kyle Busch… even drivers I’m not to fond of. If it can’t be Jr., then anyone can win and make me happy as long as it’s not Kyle Busch…. I sure hope we have a few more weeks of Kyle hitting the wall… Keep up the good work Kyle…

  13. 13 Me

I think Kyles got a lot of talent, he just needs 2 work on a few things. Once he’s got it all he’s going 2 be beating Gordon, Johnson, as well as other top racers. I’m a Jr, have been since he was in the Busch Series, but I like Kyle. Give him some time & you’ll all be sorry for what you’ve said about him.

  14. 14 Tracey

I CANT STAND THE BUSH BROTHERS, I THINK THEY CHEAT.

  15. 15 Erica

I’m not a fan of either Busch brother but really, is it the right thing to do to hope they hit the wall? What happens when it kills them or perhaps they take your favorite driver with them? Grow up! Plus, what makes you think they are cheating? Wouldn’t they be winning? Or come close to winning?

  16. 16 Chris

I must say Kurt Busch has matured over last year and this year with penski.

Wish I could say the same about Kyle, but he’s just a horrible driver that puts everyone’s lives at risk when he’s on the track racing.

  17. 17 Breanna Crooker

You can’t bash him for taking somebody out just cuz it’s
his brother. Bash him for taking somebody out period, yes. But you
can’t say “Oh it’s his brother, he should of gone easy.” Well, no,
he shouldn’t. They’re both making their own careers and Kyle has a
right to make his own, too. I just thinking wrecking people period
is pretty pointless. And I agree with whoever said it, in this race
    first is a million, second’s jacks*it. So atleast there’s even a
slight reason to do it. He thought he could win, saw an opportunity,
    and took it.

  18. 18 HoppyGirllllllll

couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of people, lol

  19. 19 Odessa

That was sooooo great!!! And the part about not eating Kellogs for a while was to funny……best part also was a Hendrick car didn’t win!!! Woo hoo loved it!!

  20. 20 Cybil

That was the most mature interview I have ever seen with Kurt Busch and I expected him to ream his bro. For once I am impressed by his actions off the track. Maybe, just maybe he is growing up…Now if only Kyle could do the same…I think we have a few more years of whinny crap to deal with though.

  21. 21 chevy_chica

Kurt sure had a lot to say about Kyle. I don’t care for them but I sure hope it dosn’t cause any tension between them off the track. That would be too bad, life’s too short for that crap. And of course Kurt was mature about it, his publicist has been on his ass about trying to get a better image of himself out there.
Rubbing is racing, since nobody was hurt that was pretty fun to see!!!

  22. 22 Andrew

Tracey…How do they cheat? Because their aggressive?? Because they want to win?? If this seems wrong to you then I think your watching the wrong sport. Drivers should be out there to WIN not finish top 5.

  23. 23 J

I think after listening to Kurts interview it proved that he has matured ALOT! Now its Kyles turn ! I’m not a Bush fan but to all of you who say they hate them….YOU don’t know them….its time for YOU to grow up! I’d Cheer for them before I would Montoya !

  24. 24 Cybil

I think it is more than just a publicist on Kurt’s ass. It is probably more likely a big damn warning from his sponsers! Screw up again and you are out!

  25. 25 Chris

    Cybil,

im sure Kurt’s sponsors are not going to drop him if he screws up again.. NAPA hasn’t droped Waltrip yet, haha!

    -Chris

  26. 26 Cybil

Hey Chris….I know what your saying BUT…Waltrip wasn’t caught. We all know he was probably drunk as a monkey BUT he wasn’t caught! Kurt Busch was caught red handed and admitted it. If I was Jack Daniels I would have dropped him on the spot. As Miller I wouldn’t have sponsered him at all. Everyone gets a second chance though and as of this date Kurt seems to be using it wisely.

  27. 27 Nascarfan4life24

I wasn’t a real big Rusty Wallace, but he was a legand and Kurt does not deserve to be driving Rusty’s car. As for Kyle he’s andidiot like Stewart and Jr. I wish Hendrick would trade him off for Kasey Kahne.

  28. 28 Mike

Yeah trade him off for someone who isnt doing anything this year thats real logical.

  29. 29 Axel Foley

They’re both great drivers but dare I say horrible people…

I hope this causes all the tension in the world between them. It should make some excellent racing.
