I miss Bobby and his candor. He was great!
Yes he was Great. And for sure he told it As it was.
I used to watch him at the old Nashville fairgrounds, along with Jeff and Mark Green, just wear out the other drivers in their old school, stock stub cars. Bobby had that great toothy smile he’d flash during his interview after the race. And as Rick said ” he told it like it was”. It didn’t matter who you were either. He let you know. We need someone like that now.
Put simply, Bobby Hamilton Sr., was the man. It broke my heart when he passed away, you couple that with the death of Benny Parsons and I was on the ropes. I was devastated, this was a harder pill to swallow than even Big E’s death. My family has a history with Cancer, so it hurt that much more because of that. But we all became stronger through it, that’s what they would have wanted. BH was the kind of guy that didn’t want all the attention, he was modest and would always say it like it is, no more, no less. These were guys of a truely gritty breed, they came from beginnings that would make some think it was impossible to succeed, the world is a lesser place without them, but the NASCAR community is a strong family with unbreakable bonds forged through triumph as well as tragedy.
I couldn’t be more proud to be fan in a community that is so strong.
