Quote selected text Published September 16th, 2006 in NASCAR NewsCraftsman Truck Series driver Bill Lester’s plans for next year are uncertain, but he remains optimistic about finding sponsorship to run in the Nextel Cup Series.
Lester said running a part-time Nextel Cup schedule could be a possibility rather than a full-time return to the truck series. “It’s still up in the air, but we’re hoping to see what shakes out,” he said. “The biggest thing is communicating that we need support.”
Lester is the only African-American competing in NASCAR’s top three touring series. He has made two Cup starts this season, qualifying 19th at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March as the first black driver in NASCAR’s premier series in nearly 20 years.
