Greg BiffleGreg Biffle apologized for missing his post-race interviews following last weekends’ Busch Series race at O’Reilly Raceway Park and says it was simply a misunderstanding.

“First and foremost, I would like to apologize to the media who were present in the press box at ORP last weekend,” he said. “I talked to every reporter on pit road, which included television, radio and print. I also offered to stay and speak to any other media member at the track. I believe there was a misunderstanding on my part as to how we would be getting to the press box, and at the time it seemed that we would be trying to walk in the opposite direction of thousands of fans trying to exit the grandstands.

“I want to be clear that I was very excited about the second-place finish and was in no hurry to leave. It just seemed unreasonable at the time to try to get to the press box as the grandstands were emptying in the opposite direction. I have always been a big supporter of the NASCAR Busch Series and willing to help promote the series in any way. I understand the importance of the media obligations related to participation in all NASCAR series and once again apologize to anyone who may have felt slighted this weekend at ORP.”

Wha?!?!?! I’m not sure I get it. He thought the media center was in a direction opposite the flow of people leaving the track, so he just didn’t go?

I think its ridiculous to FORCE drivers to interview, especially if they’ve had
a bad race. i think thats just ASKING for problems.

This response is just to appease the Bush people. Bif didn’t write it.
Come on he talked to every one except maby the gate guard what more could he have said.
It’s sooo sad that in today’s race world just being a good driver is not enough.
They want a little piece of your soul every week to.

Nash, the only people they FORCE to be interviewed are the top 3 finishers. If you finished in the top 3, I doubt you had a bad race! If you finish 4th, you can walk away and say you don’t want to talk and nothing will happen to you, other than reporters saying you’re a jerk.

As it has been said on here many times lately, this rule is on the entry form that every driver signs, and they reiterate it in the pre-race driver’s meeting. Top 3 go to the media center. Period.

    Jeff said it.

Jeff , since you dont get it. At ORP you have to walk thru the grandstands to get to the press box. The fans are exiting down the steps and the press box is up the stairs. So how smart is it to make a Cup driver walk against the flow of traffic to get to the press box. At most tracks the media center is in the infield and theres no problem. Maybe he should have just waited for everyone to go home and then went up there and talked to the cleaning ladies…lol.
