Biffle and Roush negotiations break down

Contract negotiations between #16-Greg Biffle and Roush Fenway Racing have stalled, Biffle told ESPN.com Friday at Pocono Raceway.
Biffle said the decision to break off talks was his and is based largely on improving the performance of a No. 16 team that has been up-and-down of late and in a state of transition following the firing of crew chief Pat Tryson two weeks ago and subsequent hiring of crew chief Greg Irwin. Biffle expects negotiations to resume in about a month.

We keep hearing Biff has a year left on his contract. We keep hearing that he’s the first guy in line to replace Junior at DEI. We keep hearing that Roush is pissed over all of this negotiating in public. Wouldn’t it be refreshing if all of these guys just told the truth? Roush’s problems start with that idiot Geoff Smith. He’s lost a lot of sponsors and drivers since he became Jack’s right hand man. Drivers like Ted Musgrave, Mark Martin, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch and Jeff Burton immediately come to mind. I’m not gonna count Chad Little or Kevin Lepage. Sponsors like Exide, Valvoline, John Deere, The National Guard and Subway. Ameriquest has it’s own set of problems. About the only good thing that has come out of this management team was finding Carl Edwards. Their Busch Series “Rookie of the Year” O’Quinn has had a hard time getting good equipment this year. Kluever has been a bust. Ragan is a weapon on he track. Kvapil is a retread and there’s still hope for Darnell. He just needs more seat time. Question to Jack Roush and Geoff Smith: Are you smarter than a 5th grader?
Well, was Geoff Smith in that position when Musgrave, Little and Benson drove for Roush? I don’t think so.
However, I do agree that Roush does seem to have a penchant for doing stupid things with people. Really stupid.
Like losing Mark’s first championship by borrowing another car
Like swapping crewchiefs every time the team ‘appears’ to not be on the top rung.
Greg’s first crewchief, back when he ran trucks, was just fine. I think if he had gotten some assistance as they moved up through the ranks he would have been an awesome crewchief…he showed signs of that in Biff’s 2 truck championships (and almost a 3rd).
But no, Roush replaced him as soon as they moved up. And then got rid of Greg’s best shot of winning by removing his crewchief from last year.
Don’t keep playing the shell game thinking that will fix stuff. Work with the people, and they WILL get better in most cases.
