And it's not like Petty had always been with Dodge. Richard briefly drove a Ford (1969), Chevy (1978), and Buick (1981). But he alwaays returned to his Plymouth/Dodge roots, and his successors in the 43 and Kyle, of course, have been stuck in Dodges for years. One would have hoped that the move to the COT would have helped the teams loyal to Dodge to be more competitive, but that doesn't seem to be happening. If PE is serious about continuing in Cup they're going to have to switch manufacturers. I'm tired of seeing the 43 and 45 running at the tale end of the field in race after race.

Its not a question of IF, but a question of how long until Cerberus decides NASCAR is not worth the investment anymore. I give it till 2010/2012

PE? Who on earth is that?
Petty Enterprises to answer your question and as far as BAM racing and BDR sharing engines or merging or what ever you want to call it, is not going to make a different. they are both still a lower tier team and will need a lot a luck to be competative for more then one race.
Why would anyone consider a merge with BDR. Davis has a proven history of
negative dealings with manufacturers(Dodge) and also with personnel. This will
eventually cost BAM.

Why would anyone want to merge with BDR? He has a poor history of dealing with car manufactures and personnel. BAM should keep their eyes open for the $crewing that will surely come!
