Activities at Atlanta Motor Speedway today, including Georgia-Pacific Qualifying and the Papa John’s Pizza Shooutout ASA Southern Modified race, have been cancelled due to inclement weather.
In accordance with NASCAR procedure, the starting field for Sunday’s Bass Pro Shops 500 will be set by owner’s points, placing Nextel Cup championship leader Matt Kenseth on the pole. The other nine Chase for the Nextel Cup contenders will round out the top-10 starting positions.
Activities at AMS will resume Saturday morning, with two Nextel Cup Series practice sessions taking place and the Crown Royal IROC season finale scheduled to take the green flag at 3:10pm/et. Following the IROC race, the EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200 Craftsman Truck Series race will start at 5:05pm/et.

I’m sorta glad that it was raining friday at Ams. Even though it’s miserable at Atlanta Motor Speedway when it rains… It helped the chase contenders get a good starting position so they wont have to work so hard to get up front…
