DarlingtonDarlington Speedway officials say crews have begun laying the the first two layers of asphalt for the track’s repaving project.

A new infield-access tunnel is also being constructed as part of the $10 million capital improvement project.

“This is a historic day for Darlington Raceway,” track President Chris Browning said. “It has been a busy offseason at Darlington Raceway, and we look forward to showcasing our new racing surface and infield-access tunnel for fans and competitors during the upcoming Dodge Challenger 500 weekend.”

    It’s sad to see that sandpaper surface go. I agree with cheater. Labor Day weekend hasn’t been the same since scheduling and dates were changed to protect the greedy.
