Juan MontoyaJuan Pablo Montoya requested a face-to-face meeting with his boss and got it the day before the Indianapolis 500, when owner Chip Ganassi flew to North Carolina to talk with his emotional driver. The early morning meeting Saturday let Montoya express his frustrations over the race team’s direction, including the firing of crew chief Jimmy Elledge, a move Montoya vehemently opposed.

Meanwhile, there has been increasing speculation that Joe Gibbs Racing may make a run at Montoya to fill the seat Tony Stewart MAY leave at the end of the season.  According to our sources, don’t bet on it:

‘Gibbs is not interested in Montoya even if Tony leaves.  They have their eyes on another driver, and Chip ain’t letting him [Juan] out of his deal.’

Hmm that’s an interesting theory… I wonder what JPM could do in some top-notch equipment, especially now that he has some seat time in NASCAR?

Then again, like the article says, I can’t see Chip letting JPM out of his deal. Wonder who JGR has their eyes on? Gotta be Biffle, right? He still hasn’t sealed his deal w/ Roush, or did he and I’m just getting old?

JGR has their eyes on Logano. I can almost see it already..when Tony’s contract is up in 2009, he will leave Gibbs and form a team of his own and race part-time. Logano will then fill Tony’s seat, because by 2009 he will be ready to get into a cup car, maybe even sooner.
    I can see it!

Logano will eventually be in the 20. And not the 20 in the Nationwide Series.
