Jack Daniels to end RCR Cup sponsorship

Richard Childress Racing may be forced to shrink back to a three-car team if sponsorship isn’t found for the No. 07 car next season.
RCR announced on Monday that Brown-Forman will not extend its relationship with the company beyond this season, meaning the No. 07 will lose the Jack Daniels sponsorship.
Team officials said the organization’s goal is to have four cars in 2010, but that is all dependent on sponsorship. Whether Casey Mears, 20th in points, remains in that car if sponsorship is found was not made clear.
But Jack Daniels will remain on the car for the remainder of this season.
“While it is difficult for us to end our formal relationship with RCR, the current economic environment has compelled us to reevaluate our spending, and we’ve concluded that other areas in the marketing mix require additional investment,” said Tim Rutledge, vice president and brand director for Jack Daniels.
RCR expanded to four teams this season, moving Clint Bowyer from the No. 07 to the No. 33 and hiring Mears to step into the No. 07.
Hmmm, maybe this opens up another door. Maybe they can work with Austin Dillon down in the start up series and get ready to bring him in full time cup by 2012 in the 3 car???
Direct TV, Holiday Inn, Champion Sparkplugs, Dickies, Snap-on #30
Its time for the #3 to come back and Dillon is a great prospect and I think he is gonna thrive in his career. Next year he is doing full time trucks in the 3 truck. And he really wants to keep the number cause he started with it. And i believe Harvicks contract runs out next year and I really dont see him resigning but I do see him keeping the 29 for KHI
The #3 will not run in a “Cup” race many, many years and it will take a very special driver to be accepted in it. I also see where Jim Beam is dropping Robby Gordon> Which Big sponsor will be next to leave?

Austin will run the #3 in cup and he will be full-time in cup by 2012. Remember the #3 was the family number for Austin’s family way before it was the number of the wrecker that you all idolize.
I’m sorry how do you know who I idolize and why did you need to use the word wrecker to relate to Dale. as for your prediction on Austins # I don’t think it will happen but we’ll see

You dont know whats going to happen with Austin Mr.Know It All…and I’m sure somebody ran the #3 long before childress did so it’s not a family number, and you dont know crap about dale when he died you were probably just reaching puberty if that so go watch some more old video footage because you dont know crap.
I dont even think the old footage would help… All these new age Kyle fans thing thats how Dale ran and they wouldnt know anything about working on the farm or changing there own oil

Aww sounds like the little baby doesn’t like to hear the facts.
The point about it being a “family number” was in reference to the many people out there that think that on relatives to Dale Sr should drive it. Also it was to the fact that Austin when a little kid was asked what number he wanted to run, and he said “I want to run my grandfathers number”
And you are right many other people have driven the #3, but people seem to forget that. Johnson, Baker, Rudd, and many others. Billy Snowden ran it in the 3rd race of the 1949 season, and heck BRE racing has used that number constantly in NASCAR competition from 1957 till present with driver Ryan Preece. Now that I think of it Hershel McGriff ran that number for 2 races in 1952 when he was 25 years old and heck he is still racing today (at age 81).
The bottom line is, it is just a number, it was always just a number and it should have NEVER been treated as something special after he died. There is only 1 number retired in NASCAR and Dale Sr’s stats make him look like a mere “fly on the wall” compared to the driver of the number that was retired, Richie Evans.
And old footage is going to do nothing but prove my point further, Sr was nothing more then a glorified wrecker. Yeah the driver I may have followed growing up might have been the reason for the past-champ provisional, and yeah NASCAR may have encouraged him to cheat to get a signature win infront of the President, but when it comes down to it he has 7 championships and doesn’t have the Stigma (most call legacy) of being nothing but a wrecker.
this is why hendrick got jr “for his sponsers” ………. also why they have 5 cars in the chase 5 24 48 14 39 seems comp really help break up the monopoly here
Hey fisha, when you actually start watching NASCAR instead of go karts… maybe we can Talk. Dale Sr was and will forever be the man

Dale Sr was no where near the man. Heck he doesn’t even hold any records in NASCAR.
He is tied for 1… And its more than what he does on the track. Off the track, he was one of the blue collar guys working on the farm and everyday stuff
Fisha695 wrote:
He’s tied with 7 cups and if had raced as long as petty did he would have more im sure.

Most people probably dont know who Richie Evans is hell he probably died at martinsville before you were born…I seen the guy race in person more than once and he was great but comparing modifieds to cup doesnt work sorry.
Last time i checked records do not win championships! 7 to be exact!
