Teresa EarnhardtEarnhardt Ganassi Racing owner/managing partner Chip Ganassi is fed up with media criticism of Teresa Earnhardt, co-owner of the team and widow of seven-time champion Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Just because Teresa Earnhardt prefers not to come to the racetrack, she shouldn’t be pilloried in the press as an absentee owner, Ganassi said Friday to a small gathering of reporters outside his motor home.

“She could have walked away from the sport in 2001 (after Dale Earnhardt died in a crash in the Daytona 500), and nobody would have said a word,” Ganassi said. “Here she commits herself to the business and commits herself to the industry, and because she’s not what you want her to be, she’s not good, or she’s no good, or this or that.

“Whether she wants to be at the racetrack or not isn’t a measuring of her interest in the sport. Because she doesn’t walk up and down the pit lane with a hat on like Jack Roush, she can’t be any good — that’s just ridiculous.

“She’s committed to the sport, and she’s my partner, so lay off her. OK?”

    No!

Yeah , she’s only ruined one of the best race teams , thats all.

During the week on SPEED there was a video interview with Chip and he explained it a hell of a lot better, but what he said is true. She could have walked away, and people would have complained about that, so she stayed and people complained about that.

She didn’t ruin DEI, Dale Jr ruined DEI, Dale Sr ruined DEI.

but how can an owner accurately know whats goin on or needed with the race teams if they aren’t there? granted, emails work, but NASCAR is hands on. the teams that do the best, statistically, are ones where the owners are there and overseeing the race operations.you think Rick Hendricks would be as successful if he sat at home and watched the races? or only went to their corporate offices? no! same with Childress and Roush. their teams win because their owners are intent on knowing EXACTLY whats goin on.

That team has like 5 owners all together.

AS for the other people you mentioned, they DO NOT go to every race, and all the owners of all the teams are almost never at all the races all together.

    ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Last time I checked the team was doing very well when Dale SR started the team. It was also making money when dale jr was on the team. He worked for years without a contract. He did not like the direction the team was headed and wanted to correct it. She was very arrogant would not listen and now she no longer owns majority interest and has allot less to show for it.

You have always said that she was the brains behind the team and I think that she has proven you wrong. If she was the brains then she would have been successful without SR and JR. As even you can see, she is not successful at all.

Also, she did not walk away from the team when sr died because it was a cash cow at the time and she wanted it for her daughter. Now, the cash cow has left the barn.

I’d be willing to bet if Teresa would have given 51% to Jr. , Kelley and Kerry , that her 49% would be worth alot more today than whatever percentage she has now. The only 5 races she has gone to since Sr. died , were races that she accepted some kind of award on behalf of Sr. Besides that , she just straight up doesnt show. And to answer Fisha , I bet you could count the races Roush has missed one 1 hand. I see him on the pit box watching his drivers from Arca , Truck , Nationwide and Cup. He’s been there for Eric Darnell / Ricky Stenhouse / Colin Braun’s races , just like his Cup drivers races. Harvick said it best. She’s an absent owner.

I’d be willing to bet if Dale Sr wanted his kids to own part of the team he would have left it in his will.

He created that team so HE had someplace to go play around with, he wasn’t handed anything and he never handed Jr anything, so why would he want Jr to be handed that team, instead of getting the learning experience of going out and starting his own.

    merriam-webster definition of absent :
1 : not present or attending : missing
    2 : not existing : lacking
3 : lost in thought : not attentive

how is this not acurate descripiton ? Nascar is gossip central get your lazy *ss on the telivision with a guy on speed or something and tell your story stand strong and admit your faults or attempts to do what ever you think your doing and be done with it. THe more you hide or pretend life is what you think it is this sore called Earnhardt Ganassi Racing will have these issues.. Die hard jr fans are a hard headed outspoken bunch . You wont win em all but first you have to try Teresa Earnhardt. OH yea part of the job description is showing up at the job to show support . In turn you will most likely get the same.

Who said Sr wanted to give it to the kids?

Who said he wanted JR to have it? Your starting up the same old arguments and that dog don’t hunt. You also always argued that she was the brains behind DEI! Now you want to blame JR and SR for its failure!!

Just admit you were wrong and get on with it. DEI is failing because she does not have the stars of DEI to bring in the big bucks. She made a business decision that was wrong, and DEI paying for it, or I should say what is left of DEI. IF DEI did not need JR it would be flourishing, instead it is downsizing. Business is business and JR did what he had to do and Teresa did what she had to do and both will have to live with their decisions. JR will be vary rich and we have to see how Teresa fairs.

  12. 12 Justin 99

One day Jr. Motorsports will buy whats left of DEI and Teresa can get a job at Waffle House.

  13. 13 brenda & wayne

we agree theresa should be working at waffle house, she doesn’t have a clue to run a race team thats why jr left he wanted to go where he knew the owner knew what they were doing.we feel teresa is after the money and only money not fame.so look out for chip only NO dei.sr built the business so he had something to retire with and who expected his dealth so early.so how was he suspose to write a will and put his kids in it(so maybe the will wasnt finished yet) so when teresa dies she will probably leave everything to taylor and taylor will turn around and give or share everything with her brothers and sister.

I would like to see where it says the Owners have to be at the track? Afterall the business that she owns is not at the track, the business that she owns is back in NC.

I mean I don’t see the owner of Walmart out at my local Walmart all the time, does that mean he (or she) is an absentee owner as well?

Hell Matt Millen (Formerly involved with Detroit Lions) owns a Ford dealership down the street but he isn’t there 24/7 does that mean he is an absentee owner too?

  15. 15 Sam

How about comparing apples to apples! How about the successful owners and what they do and don’t do?

The media is 100% correct, not at the track not 100% committed–dedicated to the ownership or the business, I bet Sr is turning in his grave over her, chip is mad cause they are talking about his woman.

  17. 17 Justin 99

To answer your question Fisha. When Matt Millan was general manager of the Detroit Lions , yes he did go to every game. That was a sports team , and thats what Teresa is the head of. So I believe she should at least go to some of the races and show some interest. And since you brought it up. When Sam Walton was alive , they say he spent 80% of his time going around to the WalMart stores to see how his business was being run. So , you pretty much proved my point.

Ummm howya know he isn’t there are U there 100% of the time to check that dealership?

Yes I’m actually at that Dealership a lot, as we take all the Fords/Lincolns/Mercury’s there for diagnostics and factory resets because we don’t have that equipment at our shop.

Never said anything about him being at the Lions games, learn to read ;) Teresa is the head of a corporation, not a sports team, and she does go to some of the races.

And yes Sam went to some of the walmarts, and even today upper brass spends a lot of time on the road visiting their various stores. However like I said they are never there 100%, and you even agreed with that, proving my point.
