Dale Earnhardt, Jr going retro with paint scheme at Darlington

Dale Earnhardt Jr. plans to celebrate his love of NASCAR’s history once more by running a retro paint scheme on his No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet at Darlington Raceway.
The car’s look will be modeled after the 1981-82 entry driven by Darrell Waltrip.
Earnhardt Jr. characterized the scheme as a “tribute to the history of the sport and the heritage at Darlington.”
I’ve been saying this since I saw the scheme the other month, I like the Retro look ,but I think a Retro-Custom or Retro-Modern (or whatever you want to call it) version of this scheme could have/would have been cooler.
I agree with Fisha, a more modern scheme would have been pretty wicked, however, i love the old Darrell Waltrip paint schemes especially the Mountain Dew, so i’ll enjoy seeing this, and the scheme Buddy Baker had that Dale Jr is going to race later this year, the Silver/Black car..Now if only they will have special schemes for all the new Amp’s they just released…

That’s what I was wondering. I’m sure at some point
they would get their new products on the car.
It’d be neat.
Ahh, more crap I gotta buy ….
The last thing I heard from the guy that does Jr Schemes, is that as on now there are no plans for any schemes for the New Amp flavors.
Now that could change, but I don’t think it will.

Then whats the point of all that sponsor money if you don’t promote the new products ??? I like the retro paint schemes but some of Amps new cans are great and would make even better art work on his car..
It’s no different then what Anheuser-Busch does (for example, lots of other sponsors are like this too). Anheuser-Busch brews over 40 different beers and malt liquors, but they only promote One (well used to be two) in NASCAR.
They figure you’ll go to the store to get what they promote, and you’ll see one of the other flavors or variants or products and buy that if you want it.
Also If they would do different Amp Flavor schemes, I’d highly expect them to be the standard scheme, just instead of Green it’d be the color of the flavor. Now I’ve seen people make up a lot of Amp schemes for the various pc racing games, and the ones that look like the Cans do look really good, but from what Kevin King (guy who designs most of Jr’s cars) has said Jr wanted his schemes to be more of a plain/simple style scheme
Cool Paint jobs don’t make the car run any faster on the track!
I like the paint, don’t get me wrong…I just want to see him WIN this year!

Everybody knows that Flames make any car (or anything with wheels) go faster …. l0l
And he did win this year…. Twice…. Of course they didn’t count but still a win is a win……..

I WISH I KNEW IT ALL LIKE FISHA695……
Thats a Veiled attempt at an insult, but Kevin King is a well respected member of the Sim Racing community and is on a variety of Sim Racing message boards that I am also on, so are tons of drivers/crew and other scheme designers.
Go to http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2008cup.htm to read abt all the new Paint Schemes. for all stock car racing.

Uhh… No…..
The retro look ain’t bad. It was pretty slick looking 26 years ago! I like it. The regular scheme does nothing for me.
Retro is cool and all but from DW?? Yawn. Go retro from Sr’s ride or something at least dang.
And Yeah.. As IF fisha REALLY knows this guy. LMAO! whooo He talks to “a” guy on a computer who “claims” to be so n so. hahahaha Yeah, and I have a 5,000 sq ft mountain cabin in Florida to sell ya too. LMAO
