Could Red Bull make the switch…to Chevy??

It is very possible that Brian Vickers, winner of the pole at Michigan International Speedway on Friday, could be behind the wheel of the #83 Red Bull Chevy next season. Yes, Chevy. Over the last three years, the Red Bull program has worked to gain speed but has experienced some reliability issues with the Toyota Racing Development engines.
Red Bull’s contract with Toyota is up at the end of this season. And although General Motors likely cannot afford to support additional teams at this time, Austrian billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz, who owns race teams in both NASCAR and Formula One, could certainly afford to take on the role as Chevy parts customer. If Red Bull Racing was to make the switch to Chevy engines, Hendrick Motorsports would be the logical choice of vendor. Given Jay Frye’s relationship with HMS, most recently during the management of Ginn Racing and MB2 Motorsports prior to that, there’s a familiarity as a technical customer.
heh , didnt I JUST say how I was hoping red bull was under the GM flag in the very last vickers thread?
nice
Agreed Ganj. Chevy will make a come back now that they can shed some of there dead weight from there car sales line up and Vickers and Red Bull will be a good fit in Chevy’s
Numbers are released, but still no names
Michigan will lose 58 dealerships that sell new General Motors Corp. cars and trucks, or about 20% of the state’s 289 GM stores, according to the most detailed information to date on the dealers slated to lose their franchises.
Congress released a list Friday that shows the number of affected dealerships by state. GM, unlike Chrysler LLC, has not publicly named the stores.
Other states particularly hard-hit were Pennsylvania (90), Ohio (79) and Illinois (66).
Russ Shelton, a Buick and GMC dealer in Rochester Hills, is losing his Pontiac franchise, which accounts for 40% of his sales. “I just have to find a way to make that up, whether it’s through more used cars or service work,” Shelton said.
The list was released as members of Congress grilled top executives from GM and Chrysler about their decisions to cancel more than 2,000 dealership franchise agreements as part of restructuring.
only a matter of time until Honda gets here
That’s cause Toyotas are junk, guess what, I bought a new chevy Z-71 truck and one of my buddies bought a new toyota tundra 1 week later, guess who’s engine blew up 1st?
His yes his engine blew first and this was back in 2007, and you know what mine is running yet, PROBLEM FREE, besides putting on new brakes, no other problems to date, 2008 he bought a chevy, no problems yet, I said I told ya so Tommy boy….LOL

Your the only one, Toyota is a far better company, hence the fact they are no where near death as GM is. Also you are aware your Chevy truck has the worst rating of any truck out right now and also the unsafest. This is why GM is in trouble and Toyota isnt..

Why is car and driver rating chevy trucks number one then, huh, tell me why.
And nope, I’m not the only one, I talked with many problem owners of toyota products…
Are U Fisha’s brother or relative Rowdy?
Actually if you look past the image being put forth, toyota is in pretty much the same spot as GM 3 years ago. Worse, GM quality is getting better (as well as the korean brands somehow) while toyota quality is getting worse. ( I do not have sources handy however I do a lot of research on the topic, much of the info can be found on autoblog) Toyota Had more recalls over the past year than gm as well. We will see what happens toyota is overall in a better spot than the others still obviously, however the writting is on the wall if you care to look
Does anybody else realize that since TRB came to NASCAR they have always been rumored to go to Chevy, it happens at least twice a season, and guess what it never happens.
Plus why would they want to race under King Obama’s Government Motors?
Oh and something to point out.
Chevy Cavalier = Toyota Cavalier in Japan
Geo/Chevy Prism = Toyota Corolla with Chevy badging.
Pontiac Vibe = Toyota Voltz/Matrix
Toyota Tacoma = Built at GM factory in California.
Chevy Nova (5th gen) = Toyota Corolla/Sprinter
91-95 Toyota Pickup = Built at GM factory in California
Wait… Toyota isn’t in trouble? Weren’t they just asking THEIR govt for money?
and that is why i’m a ford guy… the one company that hasn’t gone crying to mommy

Ford will have to come crying sooner (instead of later), the deals they negotiated with the unions and stuff are going to kill Ford once the other 2 start under their new ownership.
As far as Toyota asking the Japanese government for money, That’ s “Toyota of Japan”, “Toyota of America” is doing pretty good. Kinda like how GM needs money, yet “GM Australia” is doing fine with their Holden brand and don’t need any money.
…what difference is it going to make if G.M. should eventually cut so far back or pull out of NASCAR?

The manufactures pulled out in the 70s and the racing actually got better because more teams were evenly matched.
So basically, if you have a GM it’s an HMS piece and Fords are Roush-Fenway. What happened to diversity?
