Busch to move to COT in 2009?

The Busch Series will be going to a NASCAR-approved chassis, at least a brother if not a twin to the current “car of tomorrow” in the future, likely as early as 2009.
NASCAR Busch Series Director Joe Balash said Saturday that there are too many factors undecided on what or when the series will make the change. NASCAR has floated the idea of using pony car bodies – Mustangs, Camaros, etc. – with the manufacturers. Among the other things that could change is the wheelbase to be consistent with Cup at 110 inches (from 105 in the Busch Series).
“We’re in the process of trying to get the manufacturer support and looking at going forward with a Busch version of our [NASCAR] car,” Balash said. “There are still a lot of milestones we have to hit before we talk about what the actual timeline is. I think we’re making some headway.
“We’re looking at a NASCAR-certified chassis. … We’re doing our homework. There is a long way to go before we make any final decisions.”
I hope they don’t. They need to make the cars more different not more alike. Busch should be for drivers trying to make it into Cup not for Cup guys to take away money and rides from those guys just so they can have a few more pratice laps.
bring the pony cars!!
Wow SceneDaily is a little late to the party. This has been known since the begining of the year, and confirmed since the Pepsi 400.
I agree with Eric.
I think Busch should be just like a training and practice
for those who wish to compete in Cup. Give them a chance.
Or limit the number of races Cup drivers can compete in the
Busch series. DO SOMETHING!
I think it should be like this for the BuschWackers.
Definetly limit Full Time Cup Drivers when it comes to the Busch series. It should be a number low enough that the cup drivers could not contend for the Busch Series Championship, but enough so that they can earn the money of having extra sponsors and get extra seat time and the tracks of their choice. It would also allow teams to have their development drivers drive a part time schedule until the progress to the necessary level. And I’m all for a new chassis but one that is different then cup. The Bush Series allows young drivers to learn how to drive on Nextel Cup tracks and similar tracks but at a pace that allows them to develop and grow. I don’t need to see people like Kyle Busch or Kevin Harvick winning both races in the same weekend.
