earnhardtjrThanks to the generosity of NASCAR fans, Budweiser was today able to donate $100,000 to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) to help provide college educations to the children of fallen Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel. Dale Earnhardt Jr. presented the check during special ceremonies this afternoon between the NASCAR Busch and Cup races at Daytona International Speedway.

“Special operations personnel are hand-picked for the most treacherous of missions, and we felt Budweiser needed to show these brave men and women that Americans support and appreciate their courage,” said Randall Blackford, Budweiser brand director, Anheuser-Busch, Inc. “Anheuser-Busch has supported our nation’s military and their families for more than 150 years, and we’re honored to make this contribution to the efforts of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.”

Budweiser and Earnhardt Jr. raced two military-themed paint schemes in 2007. Budweiser’s brown and beige “Desert Camo” car raced Memorial Day weekend during the Coca-Cola 600 in honor of fallen soldiers, while the red, white and blue “Stars & Stripes” car ran this evening at Daytona to salute all those who currently serve. The proceeds from the sale of collectible diecasts of the two special cars were ear-marked for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides full-ride college scholarships to surviving children of special operations personnel killed in combat or training missions, and immediate financial assistance to special operations personnel severely wounded in the global war on terror. More than 700 children currently benefit from the efforts of the SOWF.

At least Budweiser has THIS to celebrate this weekend.

At least JR and Bud did something of real value for kids and parents in need unlike a certain nameless driver who just shamelessly promoted him self as a guest host on a AM TV show this morning.

Beer sponsors shouldn’t be aloud in NASCAR period. It’s a family sport

yes, making alcohol is very beneficial for children

Soo hawking a joint enhancer on the 6 car IS ok for family’s, you guys make me laugh. Beer has been around as long as kids have. Budweiser and Busch have done more for racing than most of the rest of the sponsors put together.
In a perfect world you might get away with that view but not here.

RedDevil, Beer and cigerates were promothig Nascar long before it was a Family sport and helped make it the sport it is today. Budweiser has as mutch or more right to be in this sport as any other sponser but you have the right to your openion so if you dont want to see Budweiser at Nascar Races Dont watch them. Anonymous: Beer helps make Families to, how else do ugly people get dates LOL

Whats the gripe HERE? they donated the money to kids of fallen soldiers.and as for guy that brought up family sport? go to a baseball or football game theres beer signs everywhere whats your point about the sponsor.

  9. 9 RedDevil

I think it is a good thing. We need more people rooting for us military families(yes I am part of a military family) and not calling us what they do or say the horrible things that have been said about those that serve. The money, no matter where it comes from is a good thing to support the families and when I read it it made me happy.

It would be nice if “Billy Bob’ tucked in his shirt.

RedDevil: Winston pulled out as a sponser, they were not banned. Also most Tobacoo companys are have Financial problems due to all of the federal & private law Suites so they don’t have the $ it takes to be a Sponser any more. remember Nascar was started by Moonshine runners racing each other.
