Biffle’s house fire caused by gas leak

Greg BiffleThe fire Friday at the Mooresville, NC home owned by Greg Biffle was caused by a gas leak according to the driver. According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department, firefighters were called to the home after police responded to a burglar alarm call. When they arrived at the home on Doolie Road, deputies thought the alarm had been set off by a lightning strike from a line of thunderstorms that had just passed through the area and noticed damage in the front of the home.

Deputies contacted the fire department who responded around 6:30 a.m.. Fire fighters spent about 30 minutes getting the fire under control. No injuries were reported but officials Friday put the damage at about $20,000.

Biffle who is at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series preparing for Sunday’s Sylvania 300, said that the fire was apparently started by a leaking gas fixture.
