ARCA, SPEED extend partnership through 2011

ARCA RemaxOfficials of the ARCA RE/MAX Series and SPEED have announced a four-year agreement under which SPEED will continue to televise ARCA RE/MAX Series events through 2011.

“SPEED and ARCA have a strong relationship dating back to 1997,” said Rick Miner, Senior VP Production & Network Operations. “And in 2008, we look forward to continuing that relationship. The ARCA RE/MAX Series provides great racing with wonderful storylines, already scoring some of the best motorsports ratings on the network. With more live racing in 2008, we believe the fans will support this series like never before. We expect this to be a classic ‘win-win’ for ARCA and SPEED.”

The agreement also calls for a minimum of 10 events to be aired each season with continued efforts to grow the number of televised races. The number of televised events in 2008 has already increased to 11.

Yeah, very true Fisha, I really would like them to show the dirt events, so that I can see the Illinois State Fairgrounds event (I’m originally from Illinois afterall). I’m really, really excited about the Carolina 500 at Rockingham though as well as RW’s brainchild Iowa Speedway, let’s also not forget ARCA’s return to a road-course event with the addition of New Jersey Motorsports Park (I’m really fired up about that). Anyways, y’know who I’ll be rooting for, homestate hero Justin Allgaier!! I’m also excited about Scott Speed coming from F1, he’s learning fast in his testing with the ESR/TRB team, at the moment he’s testing at Rockingham. I liked him alot in F1 so I’m very anxious to see how he adapts to stock-car racing, he’s got alot of speed though (no pun intended).

When cable was in it’s infancy, ESPN would show the dirt races. Sal Tovella and drivers like that. Dodge Magnums.

Sal Tovella! I loved watching that guy many years ago. I think he was a partner in a used car lot in Chicago. He was cool!
