Aaron Fike gets plea deal for drugs

Aaron FikeAaron Fike, arrested last summer after he and his girlfriend were caught with heroin at Kings Island amusement park in Mason, says he’s serious about reviving his career. He’s using his status to start a program [Racing Against Drugs] to combat drug abuse among young people. Under the deal that Judge Neal Bronson accepted this month, Fike pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors – possession of a drug abuse instrument and a reduced charge of attempted possession of heroin.

Fike is still undergoing drug treatment, Rittgers said. NASCAR suspended him indefinitely from racing after his arrest. As part of a plea deal that his lawyer, Charlie Rittgers of Lebanon, worked out, Fike avoided a jail sentence and felony conviction by pledging to start the non-profit group. Bronson sentenced Fike to two years of probation and ordered him to follow through with his plan for establishing Racing Against Drugs.

Aaron always claimed he was innocent. So why make a plea agreement? Liar!

Drug use should be an automatic lifetime ban from any NASCAR sanctioned event. None of this leniency crap, they need to take a hard line and keep it from becoming the NFL (National Felons League) or having the Barry Bonds types.

    Just say no.

Maybe hes innocent and took a plea deal because it was an easier sentence then if he went to trial and was found guilty and getting nailed. That or he just wants it to be over as quick as possible.

Either way I dont care for him.

    Hahahaha.
I’m FROM Cincinnati so this is ALL I heard the week before the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers 250 (which i also attended) at Kentucky Speedway.

wow it was a waste of news-time.
All the positive news about the race and such was ruined by his idiotic move to shoot up in the parking lot of a THEME PARK in which I used to go to as a child and still GO TO. Seriously, what if a little boy or girl had stumbled across their SUV. the police said they noticed suspicious behavior coming from the vehicle–any somewhat intelligent child could easily figure out that whatever was taking place in their car wasn’t normal.

    Lord have mercy.
I heard about it at work and thoughts of Shane Hmiel rushed back into my memory…
    hahahah

You and me both, Kate. You just can’t help but think of Shane Hmiel when they bring up Fike. He looks like a druggie, and just like Hmiel, he is an inbred retard. If Barry Bonds can (FINALLY) be indicted, it’s time for NASCAR to step it up. They have the Senior’s Tour in order, time to abolish drug users.

I knew him in high school and he’s not an inbred!!! How about we stop with the name calling. At least he is trying to do something positive out of this horrible situation. Everyone makes mistakes. People are so quick to judge!!! GEESH! He’s already going through a difficult time…so stop kicking him while he’s down! GET A LIFE!!!!!!!
