TNT concluded its portion of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season with a 3.0/6 for racing from Chicagoland Speedway. That’s down -6% from last year’s 3.2/7. For the 2009 season, NASCAR on TNT averaged a 3.3/8, down -8% from last year’s 3.6/8.

Longtime sportswriter and columnist Bill Robinson, known in part for his NASCAR coverage, has died. He was 79. Former Atlanta sports editor Jim Minter said Robinson was the writer who nicknamed famed driver Richard Petty “King Petty.” NASCAR vice president Jim Hunter recalled Robinson as a “fun-loving, unique person.”

On Wednesday’s “Late Shift” on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio, hosts Nate Ryan and and Buddy Baker spoke with NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield. NASCAR filed a motion with a federal appeals court saying Mayfield tested positive for methamphetamine in a second round of drug tests and should have his suspension from the sport reinstated.
