Ron Hornaday Jr. held of NASCAR’s hottest driver, Kyle Busch, to win Friday night’s Sam’s Town 400 Craftsman Truck Series race at the Texas Motor Speedway. The No.33 Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevrolet driver took the checkered flag three lengths ahead of Busch.

Jamie McMurray, driver of the #26 Crown Royal/IRWIN Tools Ford Fusion, will make his 200th career Sprint Cup start this weekend at Pocono. McMurray met with reporters this morning, and quickly dismissed a report from earlier this week that said he was leaving Roush Fenway Racing at the end of the year.

With a blistering lap of 170.219 mph, Kasey Kahne backed up his practice pace by claiming pole Friday afternoon for this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway. The pole run was the 15th of Kahne’s career and second here at the 2.5-mile track in Pennsylvania.

NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said Thursday that Verizon cannot re-brand the car because of NASCAR’s contract with Sprint as the sponsor of NASCAR’s premier series. The contract grandfathered in Alltel and Cingular as long as they did not change teams nor brands.
