The latest rumor — courtesy of Fox Sports — has Tony Stewart teaming up with Haas CNC Racing to become a NASCAR team owner. Stewart’s contract with Joe Gibbs Racing is up after the 2009 season and he could decide it’s time to jump ship, given the ascendancy at JGR of Kyle Busch.

The 2-hour, 11-minute rain delay in last Saturday’s Yankees-Red Sox game caused some juggling on the Fox and FX networks.

They switched to NASCAR with suitcases full of IndyCar championships and race wins. Predictably, the success that Sam Hornish Jr., Dario Franchitti and Juan Pablo Montoya had in open-wheel racing has not immediately transferred.
