Richard “Slugger” Labbe, who was crew chief of the No. 27 Bill Davis Racing car, has parted ways with the team, a BDR spokesman confirmed Monday.

Johnny Sauter was released today by Phoenix Racing just five races into the 2008 Nationwide Series season. Sauter was 17th in the standings, and the team is already on its third crew chief.

Robin Pemberton, NASCAR’s vice president of competition, says that Darlington Raceway will host a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice on the Thursday prior to the May 10 Dodge Challenger, so drivers will have more time on the tires being used there.
