The 1995 Indianapolis 500 will be replaced next week at California, likely by Mike Skinner, unless a sponsor can be found for the Bill Davis Racing car over the next 24 hours.
Mike Brown, the general manager at BDR, said there are no other plans to use Villeneuve until a sponsor is found.

The No. 5 car Earnhardt will drive in Saturday’s Nationwide Series opener was impounded by NASCAR on Thursday night after officials discovered the team altered the spoiler to create an aerodynamic advantage following inspection.

Teams are still battling tire issues as they head into the final few days of preparation for the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. Several drivers, including Patrick Carpentier, Regan Smith, Elliott Sadler, and Brian Vickers, had trouble with the tires in the 150-mile qualifying races Thursday.

Viewers tuning in to ESPN’s coverage of stock-car racing are likely to notice a change in how the commercials play out. Starting with Saturday’s Nationwide Series event at Daytona, ESPN will slot commercials at times that annoy viewers the least, says Rich Feinberg, network vice president of motor sports.
