Gillett Evernham Motorsports today announced a technical, manufacturing and marketing services agreement with Robby Gordon Motorsports which will race Dodges in the 2008 Sprint Cup season. Gordon’s team will use Gillett Evernham Motorsports Dodge engines when practice begins next week at Daytona International Speedway.

Daytona International Speedway officials say seven-time Daytona 500 champion Richard Petty will serve as honorary starter for the 50th running of the historic race on Feb. 17.
Petty will wave the green flag to start the race at 3:30 p.m. EST.

Richard Childress, the owner of Richard Childress Racing in Welcome, NC will be inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in May. Childress is one of eight honorees in the Class of 2008. Struggling merchandise company Motorsports Authentics lost $42,975,000 for the fiscal year ending Nov. 30, 2007, according to an annual financial statement International Speedway Corp. has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Daytona International Speedway officials announced that all grandstand seats for the historic 50th Running of the 2008 Daytona 500 have been sold. While all grandstand seats are sold out, fans can still purchase infield tickets for “The Great American Race”, scheduled for Feb. 17.
