The 50th running of the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 17 – the most anticipated event in racing history – will carry a record purse of more than $18 million. The posted awards for “The Great American Race” on Sunday, Feb. 17 will be $18,689,238.
In accordance with a new Tennessee state law, all grandstand, terrace, suite, and restroom areas at Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway now are non-smoking. This became effective October 1, 2007.
ZZ Top will perform a special concert at California Speedway
5 Comments Published January 29th, 2008 in NASCAR NewsLegendary blues rock trio ZZ Top will perform a special concert on Sunday, February 24, during the pre-race festivities at California Speedway’s 2008 Auto Club 500, Speedway President Gillian Zucker announced today. The concert will be free to all those in attendance for the 2008 West Coast Premiere of NASCAR.
Sam Hornish Jr. said Monday it’s doubtful he’ll be able to race in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca Cola 600 on May 25. In making the switch from open-wheel to stock car racing, his focus, he said, must remain on NASCAR and the Coca Cola 600.
