The 50th running of the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 17 – the most anticipated event in racing history – will carry a record purse of more than $18 million. The posted awards for “The Great American Race” on Sunday, Feb. 17 will be $18,689,238.

Legendary blues rock trio ZZ Top will perform a special concert on Sunday, February 24, during the pre-race festivities at California Speedway’s 2008 Auto Club 500, Speedway President Gillian Zucker announced today.
