Wood Brothers/JTG Racing officials announced Friday that Bill Elliott will drive the team’s No. 21 Sprint Cup Ford during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway next month.

Talladega Superspeedway officials announced Friday that the Oct. 5 Sprint Cup race at the 2.66-mile track will be called the Amp Energy 500 under terms of a new sponsorship agreement.

Robby Gordon will have to settle for the high banks of Daytona International Speedway instead of the terrain of the Dakar Rally next week.
With the Dakar Rally, which was scheduled to begin Saturday, having been canceled, Gordon will participate in the Sprint Cup test session Monday through Wednesday.

As early as Sunday, Michael Waltrip Racing’s #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota team departs to participate in the first official 2008 Sprint Cup Series test session at Daytona International Speedway. David Reutimann, who switches to the #44 UPS Toyota Camry after the first five events, will test the #00 entry from January 7th-9th.

Jeff Gordon is scheduled to make his 11th appearance as guest co-host on the popular daytime talk show “Live with Regis and Kelly” on Friday, January 18. The four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet will fill in for host Regis Philbin.
