Germain Racing officials announced Monday that Mike Wallace will drive the team’s No. 7 Nationwide Series Toyota in 2008, with sponsorship from GEICO. Wallace and GEICO move from Phoenix Racing, which fielded the No. 7 Chevy for Wallace this season. Wallace finished 11th in the Busch Series points standings in 2007.

Defending Grand-Am Rolex 24 At Daytona winner Chip Ganassi Racing has announced a two-car effort for the Rolex Sports Car Series’ 46th running of the event. The eight drivers competing for the organization include 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup competitors Juan Pablo Montoya and Dario Franchitti.

Two-time NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Jimmie Johnson and Gillette have “severed ties on the ‘Young Guns’ program,” and Johnson is looking for “an agency to help him market his on-track success,” according to Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal.

Richie Gilmore has returned to work and to his new job full time.
Gilmore, Dale Earnhardt Inc.’s former vice president of competition, had suffered a mild stroke in early October.

Red Horse Racing driver David Starr is beginning a two-day test in his No. 11 Toyota today at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway to prepare for the 2008 Craftsman Truck Series season.
