Sam Hornish Jr. is leaving the IndyCar Series for a full-time ride in NASCAR, joining the mass exodus of open-wheel stars fleeing to America’s most popular racing series. Sirius NASCAR Radio’s Sirius Speedway reported Wednesday that Komatsu Equipment construction equipment is expected to be the new sponsor of Patrick Carpentier’s #10 Dodge at Gillett Evernham Motorsports in 2008.

As part of his purchase of New Hampshire International Speedway from Bob Bahre, Bruton Smith also became “100 percent owner” of defunct North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway.
Bahre and Smith had been reluctant co-owners of the track for 10 years.
