Bill Davis Racing (BDR) announced today that Mike Skinner and Johnny Benson will share driving duties of the No. 36 Toyota Camry for the remaining four events on the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup schedule. BDR and Jeremy Mayfield, who had been behind the wheel since the season began, have parted ways effective immediately.

Early Sunday morning the #7 Robby Gordon Motorsports team received shocking news at Martinsville Speedway. Peter Sospenzo, Robby Gordon’s crew chief, was taken to the hospital for further diagnosis after reporting symptoms of dizziness.
Later in the afternoon, Sospenzo was moved to a hospital closer to his family. At this point, the diagnosis is still inconclusive.

Jeremy Mayfield will replace Jeff Green in the No. 66 Chevrolet beginning this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Haas/CNC Racing general manager Joe Custer confirmed Monday.
“We made the decision this morning,” Custer said. “We’ve made a change. Jeremy will drive the 66 car at Atlanta and for the remainder of the season.”

Car owner Chip Ganassi is reshuffling his massive operation for 2008, releasing a number of crewmen and saying he will not be signing any crewmen to contracts anymore.

Patrick Carpentier’s #10 Dodge [in 2008], which is half owned by Valvoline and half-owned by Gillett Evernham Motorsports, likely will have a primary sponsor other than the oil company next year, sources sell TFR.
Valvoline is an associate sponsor for Roush Fenway Racing.

J.D. Gibbs, who runs Gibbs Racing for his owner/father, is denying that his team has provided any engine help to Toyota teams. Michael Waltrip apparently told a TV reporter that his hot run at Talladega was helped in part by some help from the Gibbs team. Gibbs said no way.
