Jacques Villeneuve and Bill Davis Racing, coming off positive results in the former Formula One champion’s Cup debut Sunday at Talladega, are contemplating running another Cup race before the end of the season.

Ricky Rudd has been cleared by doctors to return to the No. 88 Ford this weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, the veteran driver told ESPN.com on Monday.
Rudd separated his left shoulder and was briefly knocked unconscious during a crash Labor Day weekend at California Speedway. It was his 900th career Nextel Cup Series start.

So what to make of NASCAR’s great car-of-tomorrow experiment at Talladega Speedway?
Well, if drivers couldn’t do much here, at this easy-to-drive track, and if they didn’t feel comfortable enough to put on a decent show, that certainly doesn’t bode well for February’s season-opening Daytona 500, if run with these cars.
