Kyle Petty, driver of the #45 Wells Fargo/Marathon/Tire Kingdom Dodge suffered a broken hand as a result of hitting the butt of his hand on a door inside the hauler after a lap 69 incident in Sunday’s Centurion Boats at The Glen at the 2.45-mile Watkins Glen International road course.

SPEED will be covering tomorrow morning’s LIVE press conference from Joe Gibbs Racing at 11 a.m., ET.
At that time, JGR is expected to make an announcement on the No. 18 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series entry - expected to be Kyle Busch. Will Toyota also be announced?

NASCAR won a major court decision Monday as the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals overruled a temporary injunction issued by a district court judge that had allowed AT&T logos to be placed on the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing car under NASCAR’s grandfather clause for telecommunication sponsors.

Rusty Wallace told ESPN on Monday that he turned down an offer to drive for Richard Childress Racing next year.
“I’m retired and am a broadcaster now,” the ESPN motorsports analyst said.

Hendrick Motorsports has verbally agreed to a five-year contract with General Motors, keeping NASCAR’s most powerful organization in Chevrolets through 2012.
“We’re done,” team owner Rick Hendrick said after Sunday’s Nextel Cup race at Watkins Glen International. “We haven’t signed it, but we’ve verbally agreed.”

Two of the top three owners in Chevrolet expect Joe Gibbs Racing to move to Toyota in 2008. “I’d say they’re gone,” said Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick, who has agreed to a five-year deal with General Motors.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s hopes of making the Chase For The Nextel Cup were dealt a serious blow Sunday with a broken engine in the Centurion Boats at the Glen at Watkins Glen International.
“It’s frustrating to run so well again and then end up here on the trailer with a broken race car,” Earnhardt Jr. said.
