Construction noise at Indianapolis Motor Speedway has drowned out the fact that the Indianapolis 500 will have fewer seats to offer in the future. The remake of the facility’s road circuit for next year’s motorcycle race will eliminate a bleacher section known as the First Turn Terrace, which has 5,136 seats.

California Speedway has announced an agreement with Sharp Electronics and 3M Company (”3M”) to serve as the title sponsor for the Speedway’s Fall NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Race. The race, being held on Sunday, September 2, 2007, will be known as the Sharp AQUOS 500.

The new “seeding” process, instituted for this season’s Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, has drivers competing for every position.
After the Sept. 8 race at Richmond International Raceway, the top 12 drivers will be re-seeded according to two performance standards — wins and finishing positions throughout the first 26 races.
