NASCAR’s new car has major safety design flaw?

During the Nextel Cup race last Sunday at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, Harvick’s car caught fire when the safety foam used in the door panels ignited, filling his car with smoke.
Series director John Darby said NASCAR is determined to make the mechanical corrections.

NASCAR cuts Toyota engine advantage
19 Comments Quote selected text Published April 8th, 2007 in NASCAR NewsLEBANON, Tenn. - In a technical bulletin issued this week, NASCAR has ordered Toyota Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series teams to use a different intake manifold in an effort to “level the playing field” with other manufacturers.
The change does not affect the Nextel Cup Series.
